OMG! MY father in law just showed up with a super nice electric grain mill that he's had in storage for years!!
SOOOOO, what do I do with it? I want to try to make some flower and make some of the recies in NT... where do I start? Where do I get the wheat/kamut/spelt to grind? How do I store it?

What kind of grain mill is it (brand)? I am just curious.

BTW, your blog is so cute!

Wow, lucky you. I just got my birthday/Christmas present from my inlaws; a $600 watch that I don't need and said I didn't need. I would have love, love, loved a grain mill and/or Vitamix.

I've borrowed a friend's whisper mill before and really liked it. I bought wheat and spelt from the bulk bins at the HFS. Make sure you use the four within a day or so or freeze it to preserve the nutrients and avoid the oils going rancid.

I was able to order a 50lb bag of organic wheat berries from my LHS. It cost me something like $25. I bagged it into ziplock bags and put them in our basement freezer.

Yeah, I'm talking to MIL right now about it (or she's talking to me ) and she wanted to get me something really nice because I deserve it and I'm worth so much more than that watch. Dang, I think I might be stuck with it. With MIL, I can ask for anything I want (she said so) and she'd give it to me. Obviously I don't want to take advantage of her kindness/personal issues so I really don't ask for much. Maybe I will ask for a grain mill or Vitamix when dh's grandmother's estate is settled (they'll have a little extra discretionary income ).
