Life jackets are designed to flip you onto your back. That's why paying attention to the weight range for the jacket is important. The person has to be heavy enough to flip over passively and light enough for the jacket to hold them up.

My Mom and sister are coming for a quick visit the first week in July and I know they are going to be able to tell. Yikes! I feel guilty and sick and fat
Oh, I feel for you! I remember feeling that way with my dd who was also a winter baby. I didn't want to tell anyone until well after the first tri but I felt sooooooo terrible. It was really hot that summer and my office had no AC and I just sat my 'puter doing the minimal amount of work to get by waiting for the all day nausea to pass. I finally told everyone at work when I was about 16 weeks and they all felt better knowing why I was looking fat and only wearing a few outfits. Hang in there!

eksmom - yea for the good news about your aunt!

ugh -- I need to figure out how to structure my time. I have to figure out how to carve out time for doing school work when I can actually stay awake. I need to figure out how to get my little guy to sleep better in the early mornings so I can get up when I want to (instead of falling back to sleep with him when he wants more boo). I need to run.

I'm hoping ds's restlessness this week is due to those wicked two-year molars and will pass soon before I cave a wean him (which probably won't help either of us much). Last night I read a chapter for my class and had to fight head bobs - I quit reading at 10 and went to bed. I'm thinking about trying to get a double jogger for cheap on craigslist and running in the evening (before dark) with both kids and then studying in the morning. My brain just does not function late at night. And I can't get up early enough to both run and study. Grrrrr... need to work this out or this grad program will go up in smoke (or I won't be able to run anymore) :

ok, nuff whining from me.

GMM, Keep us posted about your dad.

HollysMom, It's okay. If the best thing for you right now is not to tell, it doesn't matter how anyone else would feel about that.

Plady, I also wanted to tell you last night how much I am enjoying your blog. Your pictures were really great! So familiar. And I had to call dh over to the computer to say, "Look at this woman! She's gorgeous!" Is your hair naturally curly?

Bec, I think they ought to find an alternative for her. She's probably not the only non-swimmer. Coast Guard approved life jackets wouldn't let her lay face down. They would pop her over on her back.

I may run. I have no children right now, but I have to go get them as soon as I get a phone call. Maybe I'll wait until they are home.

Thanks for the reassurance about the life vest. But, then, would she be spending 2 hours just floating on her back? That doesn't sound like much fun, either. Argh! You'd think that they would have something in place to deal with this sort of thing! What if the kid didn't like the water? Obviously a phone call to the director is in order.

Life vests can be fun to wear and play in. My kids have worn them before they were swimmers and they had a blast paddling around.

Aaaaaahhhhhh! I just got back from my swim. I think it was the best workout I've had since realizing I was pregnant! When I got to the pool our massage therapist was giving her water aerobics class. She was totally nice about keeping everyone in 2/3 of the pool so I could do laps and since she was there I didn't want to lame out and do a lot of stopping so I did 30 minutes nonstop. It felt great (although it was hot in the water and out!)

It is. It got a lot curlier on humid days up there too, I'd forgotten about that humidity factor. Thanks for the compliments!
I love the description of your dd's graduation. It sounded incredibly sweet and well thought out.

IME, preapproval doesn't mean squat. We had one, and still got rejected by the first mortgage company we tried (no apparent reason -- we still got a mortgage at a great rate from another company).

Got out for a quick 2 miles this morning. I thought I had gone farther and was so psyched I went so fast, but apparently I miscalculated the mileage : so it wasn't quite so impressive! Still, it was gorgeous out this morning and isn't it fun to give the "hello wave" to the other early morning runners?

many years ago my oldest who could swim a little got tired in the water and had walked to a part that was over her head and the lifeguard had to fish her out with a pole. She was at a daycamp. Do you know the lifeguards? Hopefully they are vigilant. I would be uncomfortable with a nonswimmer in a group with the water over her head level.

hey mamas,

the shirts are SENT! I did first class mail so should be a few days, maybe longer for you west coasters. dd helped me and was just asking a million questions about all the places they were going, very cool. she seems to have recovered a bit from the milk craziness of yesterday.

I tried to run this morning but it was smoky again! don't know if that was the south ga fires or what, but it SUCKED. I got a headache after not even a mile, so I probably went less than 2. oh well.

plady, so glad you had a good swim! I always loved swimming while I was pg, and good for you for working hard.

gmm, sorry to hear that's going on with your dad.

as for the baby hair styling, we like the "lolo" (yogurt) in our house. fab-u-lous.

I am about to start AF and am just hoping it's not a horrible day for a race on Saturday. my IUD Af's have been so weird I have no idea what to expect, but hoping it stays like last time and isn't too bad til the 3rd day or so. especially since I already paid for the race. OH and I am totally going to wear my dingo shirt to the race!!!!!!!!!!! and yes I'll try to post some pics.

take care mamas!

hey all!

grntmtmama~so sorry to hear about your dad.

jaygee~feeling better today?

eksmom~sooo good to hear about your aunt!! I forgot to plank and boat and stuff yesterday, guess I need to ask for more help in that department. I did get about 25-30 minutes of good yoga time in though. How's your exercise look for today?

cherylann~the ceremony sounded wonderful, made me tear up thinking about your wonderful family!

RR:got in 10miles this morning on the TM. Dh is home but was sleeping because he still doesnt' feel right and not sleeping at night much (but can in the day ) I'm almost liking outdoor and TM the same. The first 2 miles had some foot pain, then rest was okay, so that's an improvement from Tues. I'm taking that as a good sign.

I found some great work out related equipment this week and last week at garage sales. The firm kit with the steps and three videos for $5! and this aeromat balance disc thing for $1 with list of exercises to go with it. then today for 50 cents! I found this foot roller thing for my poor foot. Yay!

so, I've shaved my legs every day since the new hot water heater, love it!

okay, need hangin' out time with my boys, check in with you later!

I think it was in last month's thread -- mamabeth found t-shirts that you could have customized printing on for a reasonable price. So, some folks here ordered dingo shirts and she's now sending them out. (Don't feel left out - even some of us old geezers didn't get a shirt - those of us that are old and cheap )

eksmom, you're on a very positive streak. I hope it lasts forever, mama.

I miss so much around here...part of that is that I feel like I am stealing time to come here and read you. But I am reading along, cheering, sometimes trying not to cry, and freaking out about my friends. Hugs mamas.

And about marathon plans with reb and schatz. OK, I'll do it--but now let's not discuss it for at least 6 months. I am still recovering from the marathon A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. OK? :

I am so back in the saddle. Had a great run this morning, in spite of dd's not wanting me to run at all. I am having a pretty good day in my life. Got a lot of laundry done, even put the emus out this morning, and got them back in before heading out to get ds from his last day of school. I'd packed sandwiches, and we had a picnic at the city's downtown concert in the park. I'm doing great with food. I cleaned a couple of the "barn entryway" rugs (let your imagination run wild there), and now I am going to run out to finish whatever else I can before The Storm comes. Seriously, they have been talking about it like it's Something Very Big. So we'll batten down the hatches this afternoon, and maybe I won't run in to the office this evening after all. We'll just see what this weather's going to do.

Great day to you mamas!
