dingoes running in the sun - Page 3

I want to go to a movie, too! Dan was pushing for us to see Spidey 3 last week, but not when he realized that we'd be out until, ohhhh, 1am after ou late dinner.

As far as rentals go, I highly recommend "The Queen" and "Stranger than Fiction." Wow. Wow wow wowowowow.

Welcome to the new dingoes! If you're running 3 miles in 30, that's more than enough credentials. I urged a couple of gals in my DDC to join up with the C25K folks -- I think they did. So excited for them after reading/hearing through Bec what it's done for all of you!

Plumber never showed today. He now has two companies riding his a$$ to get our job done. Blork! Communication, people. COMMUNICATION and FOLLOW THROUGH.

I think I'm going to rest today and do speedwork at the community college track tomorrow. Sunday we are meeting my aunt & uncle for a bike ride. This uncle is my outdoor living guru -- excited to ride with him and get tips. many tips. English tips. OK, not english tips. I just always have to say that when I start out that quote. (anyone? anyone?)

It's freakin' hot here. This is unusual June weather. Tomorrow we are packing up and going over to Lake Couer d'Alene, and that's all there is to it. Silly novels, a cooler -- the works.

No, it certainly isn't that bad. Visual effects -- must be seen on the big screen.

Ride was nice. My bike is too small for me. Course, I got it when I was like 12. There is no money for a new one now, so it will just have to do.

Ok, gotta make dinner.

Subbing!

2 bbs. I wish it were different for you. At least, a year from now you'll already be so established in your new life patterns, and hopefully it will all seem far away and so worth it!

Thanks for all the love mamas. It will be a long road but this is the right path. Each day I am more sure of it. I'm sure I won't always feel this way but I know I've got some friends to lean on.

I went out late this evening and rode 27+ miles. It was so hot and I couldn't concieve of going out before the sun dropped a bit. It was a great ride. Nothing super fast paced but a great moderate ride. This year I am loving cycling. Not as much as running but I have found a particular joy in it for sure. When I got home I did a quick transition, threw on my running shoes and headed out for a fast 1.5 miles. Just enough to test the brick legs out. Not in bad shape for not having done it much lately. Hoping to get in the pool tomorrow and run 6-8 miles too. I might even try for 40 miles on the bike Sunday if I am feeling crazy.

Ran on the treadmill at the campus gym today, and fortunately I didn't fall off or break anything (it has been a while...) 3 miles. It was so nice to get the run in and then have the whole evening free and it was so cool inside compared to outside!! the only downside is that it is a little boring (no tvs, mirrors, etc...), so I think I'm going to bring the ipod next time...

moonshine - if you decide to get a "new" bike, you should check craigslist... I see decent bikes on there all the time for really LOW prices
post #46 of 1384
hey, Callie -- can I have those RW links for speed workouts again? I'm too lazy to look back through the old thread.

And hear, hear about Craigslist. That's how I found my sweet-arse Bianchi.

2BB I'm thinking of you. I've been there and it's so hard. Hang in.

My mother is a psychotic, dishonest, manipulative, t#at.
She is absolutely terrible. But I finally told her exactly what I think (in a very adult and respectful way) and she came back on the attack. I despise her.
she treats my girls like crap, and Chris and I just as bad. I dont want my girls growing up having to experience all that she did to me. I really feel like I need to protect them from her.

I'm planning on going for my first post-marathon run on Sunday or Monday I a nice slow and short one.
OMG...ran into our HOT veterinarian last night while we were out on a walk with the girls....he was running...shirtless..... I was completely distracted by the sculpted bare chest blanketted in dewy glistening droplets of sex..... turns out he lives two blocks from us... he asked me to run with him sometime. I told him that I would consider it if he wore the same outfit.... and then I was startled when Chris said something. I jumped, and said, "oh! Chris! I didn't know you were standing there!" : :nana:

I wanted some mindless tv while I knitted tonight and DH wanted to watch a movie, so he put in Napolean Dynamite. Sooooooooooo not my kind of humor. I truly feel like it was a total waste. He thinks it is great.

But I worked on the fishnet stockings for my sister. I first started on DD2's poncho, but my hands were too sweaty to work with that wool. After 3 nights of trying to figure out how to do a provisional cast on, I finally got it last night. Now am working on the mesh, and it is slow and tedious going until I get into the rhythm.

creb, sorry to hear about your mom being a pill. Good for you for looking out for your family.

callie, thanks for the craigslist tip. Hadn't thought of that. It probably would be a good idea if I want to ride more. There is a ride I would like to do which goes along the coastline down Brooklyn out the NY harbor. It is RIGHT by the water. I think that it would be quite awesome.

2bbs, glad you are still feeling strong. And yeah on your 27 miles. I am feeling my little 7 in the quads when I go up steps. DD1 sent your DD mail this week. Not sure if it will take longer because she wrote the address on the envelop.

Eksmom, I meant to say that I would also find that song obnoxious. Can you reteach her with the actual words? My kids love it (Ram Sam Sam) that they learned in Music Together. How you are hanging with work and vegginess?

missbliss, I am thinking of you. Sounds like a really tough situation for you. Hope you find a great therapist. I would not be where I am today without mine.

Plady, how is DH dealing with the new bedroom? Sounds fabulous to me. Did you just move because you need more room or because you are downsizing guest bedrooms? I also want to see before and after pics of your DD's hair. DD1 is working on growing her hair to her butt. She is about 1/3 of the way there.

HBM, how was your date? How was Johnny??? Can you believe the blackheads?? Shocking.

Shanti, I would think that taking quilt tops would be a great way for you to display your work. Can the prospective buyers pick the back? Make it "custom made." Your beach sounds awesome.

kerc, your nanny sounds great. Especially the competent and available whenever part. That forever seems to be our issue.

Geo, hope the breathing gets easier.

Welcome new mamas! These ladies helped make me a runner.

ND, where are you? And Plady, how is Loftmama? It has been ages.

Hi to everyone else. Hope you having a good Friday eve and a good weekend!

Moonshine - You really need to start a knitting blog. How can I motivate you? :

Aurora - Sorry I am such a lousy buddy. : Hopefully next week I can get my act together. How did your running go this week? Did you give week #4 a try, or repeat 3 again?

Tonight I discovered that DD's 2 bottom 2-year-old molars are partially through. Hooray! Only the corners are through, but it shouldn't be long for the entire teeth to immerge.

2BB ~ Sending my love, thoughts, and all things positive your way.

After 7 hours on a canoe and about 4 hours in front of a fire.. I'm ready to collapse. I kinda feel like I"m swaying back and forth from the water. :

hi ladies!

2bbs~sounds like you are a very strong woman and in a good place. so sorry your relationship didn't work out as you had hoped. Hoping that you are now happier (you sound it already) and life can bring you all kind of goodness.

missbliss~how are things going for you right now?

eks~you feel up to working out this weekend?

Thursday, I hurt my right foot somehow while running at the playground with my kids. I have been on ibuprofen and ice for a few days.

Yesterday, I took the kids to another park and a little boy there got hurt. It was distressing for all of us. He was 7, jumped up under the playground equipment and hit his head on it. His head got cut open and you know how head wounds can bleed. Poor boy was scared and hurting and his grandmother was there and she got really upset. She got right on the phone though to 911 and was telling the boy about how head wounds bleed and try not to cry to help it stop bleeding. We were the only other people there so we tried to help him.

We have my nephews 8th birthday party today, at a playground. After witnessing yesterdays mishap, it has me a little nervous.

RR: I guess I shouldn't run on my foot until I can walk on it without pain and without ibuprofen. Is that what you would do? I can't tell what's hurt, I tried massage, but can't quite feel what it hurt when I do that (like I normally can). guess it's better to be injured in week one of 18 weeks training rather than at the end.

haven't done my plank or yoga since it hurts my foot too. Need to at least get some boat and girly push ups done today.

gotta get kids and self ready for morning party!

creb~sorry about your mom. I know you really miss your dad too. My dad changed after the loss of my mom, maybe there is hope for you and your mom.
Reb - So sorry about your mom. I hope you have some peace, at least.

2BB - You are so strong. And it really sounds like you are on the right path.

Geo - I hope you get some calm and peace so your breathing can let up. It does sound like your body responding to all the stress.

RR: I ran 1.75 miles this morning and punked out. It was really humid! Like running in a steam bath. And I had the baby in the stroller, and started out way too fast for the humidity. I have to learn to run in the heat. And I also have to learn to run while on my period and feeling icky.

On the plus side, looking back, Myself a few months ago would be shaking her head in wonder at me complaining that I only ran 1.75 miles.

Good Morning Lovely Ladies!

2bbs So sorry you are going through such a rough time, but you are strong and in the end you know what is right for you and your kids.

missbliss It is so tough when you go through a rough patch in your relationship. I hope things start to go better.

Reb - Good for you for taking care of you family.

Geo - Hope you are feeling better. Holly loved her letter! She has written one back and I will get it in the mail this weekend. Oh and I promise to send pictures this weekend too.

Our new Nanny started on Monday and it seems like it is going to be work out great. Rachel only cries when she sees me so I spent a lot of the week hiding so she and the Nanny could get to know one another. Holly seems to really like her too. As an added bonus whenever the baby is down for a nap and Holly is either at school or otherwise occupied she CLEANS. I cleaned out my closet and had about 6 pairs of pants to be ironed and she ironed them all. I HATE ironing so this is just awesome. dh is so excited to have nice neat pants that he didn't have to send to the cleaners

Well, I am back to work on Monday. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

RR: Still not feeling too bad (only mild nausea now and then), but it has been super hot and humid here so I have only been walking. I am going to start looking for a treadmill on Craiglist again.

Have a great weekend!!

Where can I find me one of those?
Reb I got one of those too. I've learned to set very strict boundaries and limits with my parents. My mom is way worse than my dad. But my dad can say some real charmers too. My dh's stepfather actually seemed to really ground my mil...she's now, well...a uaviolation. Not even acknowleding that her son who has worked so hard will be graduating at the end of the summer.

y'all...I am so excited...ds took a two hour nap yesterday at the babysitters! And then although he woke two times and I had to pat him back to sleep, slept a five hour stretch without me picking him up. (The rest of the night sucked, but hey it's a start) We'll see how it goes tonight.

You've come a long way!! Congratulations to you!

I'm thinking of everyone going through difficult times with health and family.

Well, yesterday was the first time in years I have done a double workout. I did spinning and weights at the gym in the morning and then last night, I ran on the TM for a little while ~ just to get some energy out. I only ran a little over 2 miles, but it felt good to get a little run in before bed. I'm thinking I may have to do that more often. It doesn't really wipe me out and it's a quick run.

No working out today ~ maybe I'll try a new ab workout DVD I got a few days ago. Tomorrow, I'm planning on doing a hill workout on the TM.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday.
