Did it! :

Lifted for shoulders, then ran 7 miles. I'm off to stretch and plank.

Congrats, triathletes!!!

Busy weekend here, no working out. Yesterday, graduation - joy - fortunately I was sitting behind some other profs and could get a couple of term papers graded... but then had a nice outing with kids and DH in a park, which was nice and mellow. Today, not much happening, then park potluck with cohousing interest group, which included friends of both our kiddos, so that was fun. Now grading final exams, ugh.

For those struggling with kid sleep patterns - I got this great pic last night - Galen sitting up in his bed refusing to go to sleep holding... "The No Cry Sleep Solution"

Tv helps! it's also nice to have air conditioning when it's in the upper 80's and mid 90's, and I dont' have to worry about which route to take, or traffic, or bugs, or sunburn, or getting a drink , or potty, I can just run.

*fall back asleep
*ds1 comes back in, to wake me back up with belly ache
*start to fall back asleep

Congrats Jaygee on your awesome Tri!

2bb's, Way to go on your race, you are such an inspiration!

RR: I have been doing great with running! Thursday I logged 6, Sat 4, and yesterday another 6. I have been running around here, so they have all been slow hot hilly workouts.

Jo, we used to have a calf named Picante! Now we just have her mother, Caliente(but we call her Callie) Speaking of which, I should really post some pics of the cows....we have new babies....Silicon(Silly) and Phosphorous(Fossy) Since we are a small beef production farm, we name all the males born here after elements(rather than Dinner, Crockpot, etc), which get shortened into odd nicknames. (Yes, it keeps the elements fresh in my memory and I am a little geeky )

bbm, I could have written your post yesterday, both points one and two. In fact, I considered printing it out, but dh already thinks that my relation to people on the computer is wacky, so I try not to feed into that anymore than I need to. The good news is that point two has resolved itself somewhat as N has grown. The bad news is that I am still resentful. . Grown-up stuff is so hard to work on sometimes, isn't it?

Anyway, no running for today, I need to rest my knees and I drastically need new shoes! Hopefully on Wednesday I'll be able to make it to the real running store....2 hrs away. I am also going to look at LED lights....

Have a good week mamas, A

today is officially a rest day. i'm feeling sick - is it a cold or these awful allergies? My hand eczema is flaring up - from stress or what, i'm not sure. so i'm just going to try to take it easy and recuperate a bit and stay on the healthy side of things.

i've heard of three more serious bike accidents that happened yesterday - the universe must have been taking some payback.

just a quick pop in here...

crazy busy weekend reorganizing lots of spaces in our house but it feels good to have everything in order and a bunch of stuff sent off to St Vinnie's. And, it was nice not to have plans with anyone - first weekend in a long time for that. Dh and I are the types that need to just stay home sometimes to recharge.

I feel like I'm more on top of my school work now but I still haven't jumped back into running like I want to. I've been studying in the mornings and haven't found time yet in the evenings and it's been super hot -- hopefully this week will be better. Last night we took the new jogger for a walk. It was working fine but then the front tire came off (it pops off like a bike tire) and then after that it kept pulling to the right. Dh didn't have it on tight enough to begin with and I hope that the forks aren't too bent - I'm hoping he'll putz with it today. It works but it's not ideal.

Lots of stuff on my mind lately -- my cousin had a baby two weeks ago. Her mom is staying with them for three weeks and my aunt and my cousin's dh are not getting along. For whatever reason my aunt (who is normally very nice) has decided to make my cousin and her dh's parenting style an issue. I guess my cousin's dd who is three is not adjusting well to the new baby (I think that's it anyway) and it's bugging my aunt. Or my aunt has decided she needs to influence the choices my cousin has made right now since she doesn't get to see her dd much (my aunt lives here and my cousin lives in Seattle). And, on top of it, my cousin is not having success bfing again - this time her son apparently has a short tongue and recessed chin which prevents him from getting adequate milk. So she's pumping. She ended up pumping with her dd cus she was pre-e and the mag sulfate messed up her body and her milk came in late and her dd was given a bottle in the hospital and then wouldn't nurse at all (even with trying the sns, etc). I gently suggested she might get a second opinion about her ds (sounds like a tongue tie but the LC said no) but I think she just can't take the stress of it all. I feel really bad for her.

And then I found out this morning that one of my good friends (the one who runs with me) had skin cancer removed from her face. It's the "good" kind but still scary.

So my mind feels heavy today but my new job officially begins today so that's exciting. Anyway, thanks for listening mamas!

Now some personals if I can remember...

Yeah JayGee and Bec on your great races!!!

bbm - I'm sorry your ds is such a poop

2bb -- size 4 are you petite? I would have to be emaciated to be a size 4. And yes, you have every right to feel good about that!

drjen -- great pics and nice run for you with your kids!

jooj - strawberries ... the highlight of my weekend was when my mom dropped off an entire flat of berries she picked Sat morning with my grandma - my mom is the best! Ds's poop smelled like berries on Sunday morning

RM - even with tv and ac - my mind would go bonkers on a TM for 14 miles - you rock!

grnmtnmama - scary bike riding! I'm glad you and your dh (and the other guy too) are ok. Reminds me of biking in Chamonix when dh and I were on a trail where one wrong move would have spelled disaster - we were crazy - ah, youth. We'd never do that now.

I can't remember any more personals and forgot to multi-quote. Sending dingo to all the rest.

Lots of walking, not much running to report. A cold virus has hit our house so we are all kind of sleepy and sneezy around here.

I am working on this silly research paper, trying to get it done. I must remember that even if I have 6 months to complete a course, I must never again take the full 6 monts to do so. I am tired of dragging it out. There is such a thing as too much flexibility.

I spoke briefly with my parish priest on the weekend about having completed the spiritual direction training and he seemed open to me sharing some of that in the parish. Woohoo!!!! Over the summer I need to spend some time thinking about how to gently put my availability out there, through churches, healing centres, health food stores, etc. I am nervous and excited at the same time.

Must go finish this paper. If I am dragging on this one, something I am interested in, what is it going to be like when I have to write about something that does not engage me one bit? Sigh.

Wawoof -- I would love to see that picture of Galen and the book. LOVE IT! I had great intentions of following that book to the "t", but it's just so darn easy to keep the status quo right now. Maybe in another month...

I need to get us girls packed. Heading to Portland in a couple hours... I hope Nevie is good on the drive. Last time we did a long trip (about the same length we're doing today) she was pretty darn good. So I'm optimistic. Well, anyway, should get the car loaded so that we can punch out as soon as the contractor gets here.

Hugs to those who need 'em! I'll check in from P-town when I get there.
Ugh, it is hot and humid out there! But, I ran, anyway. I got 3.3 miles in. It seemed that no matter which way I turned, though, I was heading into the wind. How does that happen while I'm running in a loop (essentially)? I don't get it. It was slow, too. Took me 38 minutes, but I figure the heat, humidity, and the fact that I was tired slowed me down. It was 81 degrees, according to the bank.

I was tired because I woke up at 5:45 this morning after having a bad dream that I got a phone call that my brother had been in a horrible accident, and I had to come to a certain place to get more information. I've been really angry with my brother recently because he totally blew off Katie's dance recital (after promising over and over again that he would come, including the day before the recital), and didn't even bother to call to say he wouldn't be there. He claimed that he worked (delivering pizzas) the day before for 12 hours, and was tired (the recital was at 1:30 the following day). I'm sure he had worked 12 hours that day. What he didn't say, and what I'm sure also happened is that he, likely, stayed up all night playing World of Warcraft, and didn't get any sleep. So, he is telling me (unspoken, of course, because he has been avoiding me), is that his neice is less important than a computer game.: It just makes me angry because she loves and trusts him, but he is constantly doing things like this. I don't tell them when we have plans to get together with them, because he usually disappoints them. He's 36 years old, has declared bankruptcy, lives with my parents, delivers pizzas part time and uses my mom's car to do it! It's pathetic. And now I'm having dreams about him dying in a car wreck and my last words to him were angry words. I shouldn't be having guilt for being angry about this! It's not my responsibility to see to it that he does what he says he's going to do. Argh! I'm just glad he is single, and doesn't have any children. Ack, sorry to vent, ladies, but this has been festering.

just have one quick minute, but the DINGO SHIRT ROCKS!! ran outside in it yesterday, in extreme heat, and it was like I barely had a shirt on. It was sooo comfy and wonderful. must.get.more.

Checking in real quick. We're back from vacation and had a great time. I got several hot and humid runs in by the beach, one with my two cousins that are my age. The kids did great and we're in vacation withdrawl. I got up this morning and put Jojo in the stroller, L took her scooter and M rode her bike and we did 2 miles in the neighborhood. It wasn't all running b/c M needed help going up hills, but it was movement and we were all really sweaty afterward. I wore my Dingo shirt and felt great.
I also got my P'tree number and I'm in group 3! . Dh got in the same group as Mamabeth. We're excited about starting before it gets too horribly hot!
I'll try and read back some and catch up, but sheesh, this is a chatty group!

DrJen - Great pictures!

BBM - you can add my dh to the list of non-listeners/responders. He doesn't respond and then I repeat myself and he calls me a nag:

1jooj - I LOVE the goat names.

Jaygee - Congrats!!

aguacates - dh thinks it is very strange to have on-line friends. He just doesn't know what he is missing What would I do without you guys

Just hangin out reading the thread and trying to get through my days at work.

Childcare question for all you awesome Mommas. The Nanny seems to be working out well. Rachel seems to love her but Holly not so much. She tells me she doesn't really like her and when I ask why she says she doesn't play tag with her or hide and seek. Do you think there is something else? Or is just that she is used to the interacting with other kids all day? She is going to day camp for two weeks in July so I am hoping that will help. Having said that I have found spots for them at the same daycare for the Fall (Holly could attend Kindergarten there). This would obviously work out better for Holly since her best friend would be in her class again, but I am not sure about Rachel. She can be pretty high needs. I am more that willing to give up my clean house and ironed clothes for my girls but I don't want to if this really is the best situation for them and it is just an adjustment for Holly.

Any brilliant insight would be appreciated.

Definitely. I wash my retired running shoes frequently, as I wear them to mow the lawn and they get pretty "green" looking doing that.

I had a great workout at the Y this morning ~ 45 minutes of spin class and then 3 miles on the treadmill while changing the pace around every 10th of a mile. Fun, and challenging. I'm so psyched for my next tri on July 8 !

yes you can wash them in the washer, but i would recommend removing the footbeds first. actually you can wash the footbeds with no issues if the water is not really hot, but i usually take mine out just to be safe.

hi everyone, just reading here. very little actual running going on. I'm seriously tired of my spouse being out of town. Bedtime is wearing me down. Dh going on and on about how terribly boring it is to sit and grade AP exams (100+ a day) is wearing thin as I think it sounds like heaven if you get to sleep even 5 hours in a row without one kid touching you! (deleted the rest of my cry-baby paragraph....dh comes home late tomorrow night!).
Kristin. My DH has been travelling a bunch in the past month, too, and it is really hard. And when he has been home, he's been working 60-70 hour weeks. I'm tired. The light at the end of the tunnel is that he is supposed to take a major computer certification exam (the CCIE for anyone interested) in the beginning of August, and things should be more sane, then. I just hope I can last that long.

5 hilly miles around Lake Morey, VT.

If you're running around a lake, it shouldn't be hilly.
