Looking for a midwife in the San Antonio, TX area

I would like to volunteer with a midwife, to just get a feel for the profession and see if becoming a midwife is something I'de relaly like to do.

Just checking to see if there is anyone on here who might be willing to let me volunteer with them for a few days.

you should move this to the Finding Your Tribe area. You're gonna get more responses.

and, I have to say from a professional point of view, good luck. I don't usually take on people at random - the main reason is my clients prenatal, birth and postpartum care is one that deserves people known and trusted, not strangers. that's why they're choosing homebirth.

I don't think you could really get an idea of what it's like to be a midwife in a few days. Even a week. Try months. Volunteering for small tasks can no way prepare you for what it's really like.

But you can get an idea by doing doula work - the issues re: being on call, little to no sleep, etc., are all pretty similar times ten with midwifery.
