She's here!!!

I only recently joined the June DDC, since my girl was due in May. But here she is ...

Iris Alix was born yesterday at 4:10 pm after five hours of active labor. My water broke in the middle of the night and contractions started around 5:30am and got really intense around 11am. I pushed for an hour and half and out she finally came!

The whole labor process was so much more intense and HARDER than I ever could have imagined. If it were not for my amazing midwife and especially my doula I am not sure I would have gotten through it without intervention. I was begging for drugs by the time transition hit . She was 8 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. DH was wonderfully supportive the entire time as he has been throughout the pregnancy. I had always envisioned myself as a quiet birther...in the tub listening to my hypnobirthing CD or my ipod and breathing through every contraction. Turns out I'm a SCREAMER .

We are so happy and in love with our baby.

Screaming? Heck, I'm a CURSING birther--and people wonder why I don't want my three year old present for this birth?

Congrats on your new little girl. Enjoy her.

I was a screamer too - and then paused to tell my poor husband that really it wasn't so bad!

Congratulations - quick and big. Have fun with your bundle.

Whatever it takes to get the baby out. Screaming or cursing. Turns out I make this very odd high pitched squeeky noise.

Brightest blessings on your baby.

Congratulations!! Iris is a lovely name...and it sounds like you all had a great experience. Shorter labors are really intense and sometimes you can't help but scream!!
