I only recently joined the June DDC, since my girl was due in May. But here she is
...
Iris Alix was born yesterday at 4:10 pm after five hours of active labor. My water broke in the middle of the night and contractions started around 5:30am and got really intense around 11am. I pushed for an hour and half and out she finally came!
The whole labor process was so much more intense and HARDER than I ever could have imagined. If it were not for my amazing midwife and especially my doula I am not sure I would have gotten through it without intervention. I was begging for drugs by the time transition hit
. She was 8 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 1/2 inches long. DH was wonderfully supportive the entire time as he has been throughout the pregnancy. I had always envisioned myself as a quiet birther...in the tub listening to my hypnobirthing CD or my ipod and breathing through every contraction. Turns out I'm a SCREAMER
.
We are so happy and in love with our baby.
