I've had mine about a year, I got them when i first started OCM but gave up after a few weeks. well the EVOO probably is only about 9 months old since we use it for cooking sometimes too

I'm pretty sure all oils can get rancid. If the EVOO was kept in a dark, cool place, it's probably OK. I've had EVOO go rancid...it develops an odd, stale taste. Taste a little on a piece of bread and see.

No idea about castor oil.

I used castor oil that was bought over 2.6 years ago. It tasted fine, well as fine as castor oil can taste that is.

My bottle of castor oil has an expiration date. *shrug*

Honey is the only thing that doesn't go bad.

Oils can definitely go rancid, they'll smell weird once they have gone bad..that off scent like when butter is left out all day.

Funny you mentioned smell. I opened a brand new bottle of cold-pressed castor oil and it smelled kind of like stale cooking oil to me. *shrug*
