my girls ahve VERY curly hair and it becomes a mass of frizzy knots by the end of the day. I have tried no-poo and burt's bees shampoo bar for their hair but it is SO hard to brush out afterwards. any suggestions?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

You can take coconut oil and brush it into their hair after the bath. After you apply the coconut oil, brush and put their hair in a braid, ponytail or bun. Or something to keep it from tangling.

There's a detangler for kids by Rainbow. I think the brand name is just Rainbow. It's around $5 at Whole Foods. It smells SO good. We go through a lot of it and it works really well. My daughter has thick, wavy hair that gets tangled easily.

You can make a mist bottle of:
a) Lavender essential oil and distilled water
b) diluted cheap conditioner
c) lavender, distilled water, and jojoba (or coconut oil) drops.
The curly girl tribe thread mentions some links on how to deal with children's curly hair. No poo is great for curly hair, but it's a different process. You have to add more conditioning agents - so conditioner only washing, or mixing baking soda and conditioner (and even brown sugar), is great for curls.
Also, comb your child's hair with a wide toothed comb - used for detangling. They don't really even look like combs. I have a rectangular one that I use, it's from either a beauty supply store or from a standard store where they sell brushes and combs, but it's got fat sturdy wide teeth. When combing, start from the bottle of the hair and work your way up to the top of the child's head.

My curly girl likes the California Baby detangler/spray in conditioner. It has been hard to find in stores lately. Sometimes I just leave in the CB conditioner and that helps too.
I'm going to look for the one by Rainbow next time if I can't find the other. Thanks for the tip.
