Read somewhere that someone was addressing birth annoucements and I panicked.

Are you all doing them?

Where are you getting them done?

I don't know enough people to bother with birth announcements... at least, not "know" as in "also know a physical mailing address".

We did a website announcement for DD & now for DS, and just sent an email to friends/family with the address.

I bought a boxfull of blank cards, wrote the same little blurb in each, and then addressed the envelopes. Basically I went through my addy book and did an envelope for each relative and good friend in the book. Once Roro arrives we'll grab a good picture and send it off to the one hour photo place to make wallet sized prints...one photo per envelope, fill in the "details", and off to the post office they go!

It's what we did last time too and it's not a lot of effort.

Oh, and the blurb is...ummm...on the top "flap" of the card it says:

FIRST NAME MIDDLE NAME LAST NAME
Born:
Weight:
Length:

And on the bottom "flap" it says : Mike, Laia, and Clay would like to announce the birth of " " (we'll fill that in when we are positive it's a girl!).

Welcome to the planet little one!

Don't feel obligated if doing announcements makes you crazy!

We did an email announcement last time, and will this time as well. Then I got photo stickers made up with one of DS's very first photos (still in hospital cap and blanket), and I used those on our thank you cards that we sent back to those who sent gifts.

I think announcements are really lovely and nice, but I don't believe they are NECESSARY.
