Quinn is here! She was born 6/1 at 11am, 8 lbs 7oz, 21 inches.
I spent 5/31 doing too much with DS. Didn't take a nap that day. Made a big dinner, watched a movie with DH. And at 10pm I thought, hmm, those BH are kinda hurting. I made a joke to DH that he'd better get some sleep. So he did, but I didn't! The ctx were too frequent and seeming strong. By 2am I woke up DH to help time them. He thought it was time to call the MW and got into mobilizing mode, but I was hesitant. After all, my 1st labor lasted 3 days. But finally at 4am I thought we'd better call MIL to come stay with DS and by 5am I was ready to hit the road. I was so happy to be at the hosp, call me crazy, but I'd been looking forward to being there. The jacuzzi tub was filled and waiting for me, the nurses were so friendly. I couldn't have labored effectively at home with DS there. I was disheartened to learn I was only 2cm when the mw checked me, but I got right down to work, focusing on letting my body do its thing. And 4 hours later, after some vomiting and really needing to vocalize during ctx, she checked me again and I was 7cm. Once I knew that, I knew my baby would be born THAT DAY, in fact, THAT MORNING, and felt so relieved. And an hour later DD was born! Pushing was excrutiating. I can't say I enjoyed it. I tried several different positions with no relief. All I could do was the work and I totally needed the reassurance of DH, the nurse and the mw to get me through. I would have lost it completely without that support. I knew, though, I was at the point of no return, nothing to do but work that baby out! Turns out Quinn broke a collar bone on her way out, but I'm told it will heal quickly without any intervention. And I had some 1st degree tears but who cares. I feel pretty darn good about how it all went. I still can't believe it's over, she's here!
Nursing is going pretty well, my milk came in this morning. Some left nipple soreness, wondering if the collar bone has anything to do with it, trying to get her to latch better.
