Thinking about becoming a midwife...

I'm thinking of becoming a midwife here in Michigan. I've got 3 little kids, so I'd like to do a distance learning program if I can. Does anyone have an recommendations? Also, what should I expect all of this to cost? Any and all information would be most welcome!

You're in a great place to do the Michigan School of Traditional Midwifery, which is a distance program with annual skills workshops in MI. I'm doing that program, it cost me around $4k, and I really like the spin of the program, which has a sharp focus on herbalism and on what it really means to be a TRADITIONAL midwife.

Good luck in your journey, feel free to PM w/ any other questions about MSTM.

AAMI (Ancient Art Midwifery Institute) is a great program, VERY informative and VERY thorough. ancientartmidwifery.com is the website if you want more info.

Yup, I'm in Michigan and using AAMI, as well. So far I've been impressed by the program (granted I'm not into it very deeply, but still quite happy).

Oh, and AAMI is always running some kind of special or another, to make it less cost prohibitive to prospective midwives.
