question about NARM cert births

Thread Starter
So Ive been reading over all of the packet of stuff I need to do for my cpm certification (i'm doing direct entry, pep process) There is a small chart I have to fill out giving just the totals of the kinds of birth I've attended and my role in them. I have a few questions
-Is there a minimun number of births I must observe?
-Are "observed" births any birth Ive been at (other than my own), or is just births where I sat and watched during the time when I was training to be a midwife?
-Births as an "active participant" gives a variety of roles that I can play. If my ONLY role was labor support, can I count that? Or do I need to be doing something more midwifery? (I would be a support person for my sil, not a doula or anything)
thanks so much

It's my understanding that the 20 births that 'active participant" must be while under the supervising midwife. so births you attend as a doula or on your own wouldn't count, it has to be during your apprenticeship period. If you email ida from NARM, she is usually very good and quick about emailing back.

I don't have my packet in front of me, but I believe there needs to be 20 active participant and 20 supervised "catches". 3 of those must be continuity of care clients. And I do think that you need to actively participate, even if your part is small.

Do you have asupervising midwife? Are you doing an apprenticeship? The time period is a minimum of one year and I forget how many hours.

Good luck, if you find out information different than mine, please post!
