I just decluttered a big trashbag of toys and a smaller bag of DS clothes. Next I am going after the games and puzzles.

First-timer

Ok, I have recently changed basically every aspect of my life, from my living space to my marital status. : Along with that, I feel I should finally catch reality up with my ideals, and declutter/reorganize my stuff, most of which is in boxes, and not very well labeled.

Goals;
1) Finish/get rid of all but one plastic box each of sewing, yarn, and scrapbooking projects. (I currently have four medium-sized moving boxes, so this will be a HUGE advance.)

2) Go through every box we packed (done in a HUGE hurry) and label and reorganize as necessary to eliminate at least five more boxes (out of roughly 25 total, 10 of which are books and are non-negotiable.)

3) Freecycle FIRST for everything I may need, such as baby items and furniture, since we have very little furniture that will suffice to fill a 2-bed apt. We're sleeping on an air mattress. Blegh.

4) Since I don't know how long I'll be living with the in-laws (wonderful people, but hard space-wise for a new couple with a baby due in about a month) make the bedroom we have livable, meaning no boxes, accesible storage for clothing and baby supplies, as well as space for baby's cosleeper and a nursing chair in the event that I do end up living with the in-laws during/after baby's birth.

That seems like a lot. But it will be m ore than worth it since it will make me feel more established/at peace with my surroundings, both physical and circumstantial. Wish me luck!

40+ items gone from the spare room/large closet thingy forever!

212/500

I got rid of 46 items today but ironically, none were from my chosen room Oh well, I'm still happy about it

I just realized I started my blog a year ago. I really want to make 1,000 items by my first anniversary. I'm over 700 now so less than 300. We'll see.

Got rid of 41 misc. stuff (broken toys, "toys" from birthday parties, blankets we don't use, other junk). 91+41=132/500 Still need to tackle the filing cabinets.

Ya know I thought my house was pretty tidy, it never takes long to get it presentable if someone is coming over... but this morning when my little 12month old came crawling over to me chewing on an avent bottle nipple that has not been used AT ALL since he was born, (it was from when I worked when 3yo was a baby), I had to wonder.. WHY is this still in my house?? Then I looked in the cupboard where the glasses are.. and there are the bottles as well.. : So some stuff has GOT to go! I've done a few rounds of decluttering in the past.. but a lot of it is still boxed/bagged and waiting in the garage to be donated :

My goals for June are going to be:
* CRAP waiting in the garage is to be GONE! (5boxes, one coffee table, one old carseat to be destroyed) .. if i have to i'll load a box into the car every night and tell dh not to come home till he's stopped by the drop off point
* do a room by room surface declutter THEN go looking for stuff that's hidden clutter
*thin out the abundance of TOYS my little ones have : (goal 50items.. McCrap toys beware!)
*be honest with my wardrobe.. WHY is all this crap in there that I never wear? I think it's an emotional thing so time to deal with it

So I think with those goals in mind I'll shoot for 200 items.. and if I get more I'll celebrate!

So we started the room switch : Got rid of quite a bit from ds1's room, but it didn't get counted as it went into the trash bags so instead of the massive numbers I was hoping for, I can only count bags There is still more to go but we had to organize things enough first to get him into a bed...Also, we are also almost finished redoing the side of our privacy fence that blew down, so we have old wood sitting in the back that is slowly going away, too. So for the past couple of days:

2 bags of trash from ds1's old room
7 old computer disks
1 box/manual for a camera that no longer works
10 pieces of ds1's clothes to pack up for ds2
1 large pile of wood scraps (I have no idea how much dh actually got out, so I am going to count by trash can fulls--I can't recycle it because it is treated wood)

So my new total is:

63/500

I'm really annoyed about the three freecycle bags sitting on my front porch unclaimed. Rather than reoffering them though, I'm going to take them to the rescue mission. I don't have time to babysit people like this.

well last month i made a goal of 300 and barely missed it so this month i am going ahead and making 350 as my goal i know not much of a difference but want to make a goal once hehe. and with me moving i am sure i will cause i dont want to take clutter with me. I have dumped out one big garbage bag of shredded bills and just odd in papers it went to recycling actually not dumped but ya know what i mean. then i got rid of 20 knick nakes and 3 big pictures so I have 24/350. well i am on my way but need to kick it up if i am going to set my goal. thanks for this again it really helps me get in the mood to declutter.

At first I thought you meant just the literal paper bags, rather than bags that were filled with stuff! I was like what? . . . Sigh.

I'm not joining the challenge at this stage in the game but do have a suggestion I thought I'd pass along. When you come across the box of stuff you've kept for years but not even looked at, make a photographic file of everything in the box. Then get rid of the box! When you feel like reminiscing, just look at the pictures. They take up alot less space and you'll find you don't miss the dusty boxes full of memories!!!!!!!!!!

25/250

I am having fun with this. I cleared off the top of the fridge. And filled the box from the potty chair with trash.
Now I am going to see if a friend needs some sposies that my son outgrew while I was using my cloth diapers.

I have a few things I am getting ready to sell too.
I am not sure if I can meet my goal since I spend a lot of time dealing with a little boy who is teething again and another little one that thinks life is all about nursing.

I am trying to declutter (got a smaller house with way too much stuff) and thought I would join here. I don't have a number but I am working on each room. Have piles of "not sure where to put it" stuff and boxes/bags of stuff to give away. Need to get motivated to actually get them out of the house so I thought I'd join here I have sold some stuff on ebay this month though so that's a start!

6 more baby clothes items given to a friend
8 children's videos given to another friend
1 pile of art projects (after a digital picture was taken with the artist)

38/150
15 more things (4 bath & body, 1 item of clothing & 10 sewing related)

227/500

SO much more to get rid of though. Just walking into the spare room makes me literally sick to my stomach. Where to begin?!?!
Ooh ooh ooh, can I join late?

My decluttering goal for the month: Clear out four boxes/bags from my parents' basement. They've been there since I graduated college.

Can I also cop out with a June (midmonth) NONcluttering challenge? DF (soon to be DH! AAH!) are living in the Lower 48 for the summer, and my goal is to return to AK with no more stuff (one suitcase) than I came down with. We're basically living out of our suitcases for the summer, so my goal is to not buy or acquire anything this month that won't fit in my suitcase. I know I won't succeed with this in July (wretched wedding gifts!), but I'd like to remember this summer as the summer I finally managed to not accumulate a big pile of unnecessary stuff. I have a significant amount of crap waiting for me up in AK in August... it'd be nice to not have to deal with a summer's worth of decluttering right before I move back.
I will join too! My personal goal is 1000 items! I am actually pretty excited about it. I am planning to donate, recycle, or sell most items and then get rid of the rest!
Mine should be huge this month. We're moving on July 1st, from a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house to a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. We have a TON of stuff to get rid of. I'll be ambitious and say 3000 items. We'll see how close I am in the end. I already have a garage FULL of things that we're going to try and yardsale/donate this month.
