June GPT - Page 4

Well crap. This was my first month of doing the GPTs and I made about $80 altogether. Now that I can't use a prepaid card I can't do trials and I have trouble getting freebies to credit so I guess that's it then.
don't throw in the towel yet. Give it a bit more time. And there are other options besides a prepaid that will still keep you protected. There is a thread at barbie's message board that discusses a few other options. It's in the "support" or the "discussion" forum.

I'm also thinking things are looking pretty grim. After having my CC stolen from doing offers, I'm very hesitant to use my own card at all. So I'm going to stick to freebies for now and see what happens.

I hope this is ok to post!

Just a heads up:

If you have done the Cortitherm offer, they may sign you up for an online fitness program and after one month, they will charge you $29.99. The program is My Fitness Mentor and they are giving you a "one month free trial." I never signed up for it, never heard of it and got a bill on Friday. They refuse to refund my money because they "sent me an email confirmation of my membership." I went through all my email and there is nothing from them. I told the lady that I never got the email and she replied that "we have record of sending one to you." I said "That's not fair to me! I never got it and you are still charging me??!!" To which she replied, "Yes."

Anyway, just a heads up that you may want to check and see if you are a member of the club, since they are sneaking it in there.

On the bright side, my CC company refunded my money promptly. I LOVE my CC company!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just sticking to freebies too, for a while. I want to see if things get better before I invest any money into offers. I'm not giving up yet, though, because it may still work out in a few months.

I did the Cortitherm offer a few months ago, and I didn't see any option for the My Fitness Mentor trial, I better go back and double check all of my emails to be sure I didn't get one from them. I've never been charged for it, but maybe I could get a bill in the mail at some point instead.

Thanks for the heads up Carrie!!

I hope that everything settles back down with the GPT industry in general, I know that so many sites have been forced to make changes in the way they operate, to accomodate the requests of the advertisers whose offers they use on their site, and hopefully things will smooth back over soon, and things can get back to normal for everyone.

Well, hopefully, it was a one time thing and it just happened to me. I don't remember signing up for anything but Cortitherm. I'm very careful to make sure all boxes are appropriately marked and that I don't sign up for anything extra (I might be able to get paid for it, LOL). That is why I was so surprised to get the bill.

I really think they are scamming me. They can't PROVE I did or didn't get that email and I can't prove it either! She said I signed up for it on April 18, had a one month trial, and I'm just NOW getting a bill??? Why didn't they bill me at the end of the one month, on May 18?

However it was, I'm pretty ticked at them and I made sure to let everyone I could think of know about it.

Yeah, I had my CC charged for a trial I never signed up for, and then was unable to cancel--the phone number on my CC statement was no longer in service. Thankfully the CC company was very helpful, but I will not use a "real" CC or debit card anymore except for some very well known companies, like Blockbuster.

I hope everything settles down too, I'm so angry at the people committing fraud that ruined it for everyone!

I have Obopay. It's very similar to the Paypal debit card.
Thanks for mentioning that, I have an Obopay card too, but have never used it, and wondered how well it worked for things like this. I've always used my PayPal debit card and I haven't had any problems as of yet, but it's great to know I have another option now too.

I have been having good success with my citi card vitrual numbers. You can close the number whenever you want too, so it can't be used again.

Hi everyone. I haven't had internet access at home for several months. Still don't, but I have been getting on occassionally to try to get things resolved with Cash On Tap. Am I the only one who has had problems with them? Finally 3 weeks ago (after at least 6 weeks of me e-mailing them) someone told me they required photo ID. I checked again, but I didn't see where it said that. So I e-mailed them photo ID and I got an e-mail back saying they got it and i should recieve payment that night. That was 3 weeks ago. It still says id required and no one is answering my e-mails. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm not sure I want to do anymore with them when I get back online.

i am so throughly annoyed at the gpt companies right now!!! i am sooo glad that i havne't done much at all in the last few months. i agree that things are really in the toilet right now and i don't plan on doing anything for a while. let myself (and my credit cards recover. i just found that Get me on media i.e. blue seven media i.e. sw online llc charged my credit card $29.99. but get this.....the credit card they charged is DIFFERENT from the one i signed up with!!! : plus its not their normal $54 but its certainly not the google adwords. i cancelled their service in a round about way way back in march. they are VERY hard to get a hold of (in fact impossible) and only after going through disputes with my credit card did it finally stop and i still had to dispute it several times to get it to stick. now they somehow found my other credit card and use a different name to charge me. plus "smart finances" ie credit repair for dummies is also charging me and i have been trying to get a hold of them for a few weeks but their phone is always "busy" and their mail always gets returned. now i have another 39.95 on my credit card. luckily my Amazon card is much easier to get disputes through than my capital one card. i am going to change all my credit card numbers as soon as my online shopping charges have all gone through. URGH!!!! so beware of these companies!!!

dhinderliter, chances are this is what the $29.99 charge is for. : Sounds like they got to you, too. They charged me under sw online llc.

whats the number you have? want to see if it matches the number i got from my credit card company or my notes. thanks for posting that.

ETA:
got a call from Blue Seven Media. very confused as to who owns what and signs up for what. they are saying thats its cortitherm thats signing up for my fitness mentor but they are charging through blue seven which is get me on media...i think. my cortitherm info is that i called and left them a message and then sent back their package on 5/6 or so. i did return it but didn't get a delivery confirmation BUT i also haven't been charged for cortitherm...just the fitness mentor thing....so i don't understand how they can cancel on part of the stuff and not the fitness mentor. by sending back their junk it seems they would have to cancel everything. the woman i talked to said that she cancelled and it and that i can do a dispute for the 29.99 and i told her that i will but i had better not see a conter-dispute because i never got their stuff and didn't sign up for any extra's from their services. i made sure of it.

I have no idea what "offer" I did who used my information unauthorized but I hope most of you can avoid this!
I have been lurking on this thread, but I have never done any GPTs- however when I checked the mail today I had a package from BMG!! It was originally sent to an old address in my maiden name and was forwarded to my new house. So somehow these companies are getting our info, maybe not necessarily through a GPT? I'm gonna give them a call later. I wonder what CD they sent me :

So it sounds like some of us have had problems lately....

But can anyone share some good offers they have recently completed? Anything with a quick approval and no problems?

I signed up for Creative Painting Book club. It is $9.95 for the books (you get 3 great ones) and payout is like $15 or so on MPC. Only committment is that you remain a member for 9 months and let them send you monthly catalogs. You do have to decline any automatic selections you don't want sent (one a month) but you can do it online. No additional purchases are needed to complete your membership requirements.

I really like the club.

Hello everyone,

Just checking in. I haven't done one thing this month. Been a bit discouraged, especially after all the "mistakes" on my cc from all these companies this last month. I had never had so many problems before. Lots of overcharges that I had to call in and get reversed. Too much time and stress. I just looked on MPC for new trials...maybe four or five I haven't done, but I don't feel inspired. And it sounds like the freebie situation has gotten worse (my approval on freebies there have been about 60/40 on average).

There is something else I am considering doing. I have to buy all this info for about $165 and I know investing in something I don't know can be scary (on many levels) but I have done the research and the company has a pretty solid background. I can return the info within 90 days if I decide I don't want to do it. If this works out, I'll let people know.

Hope next month is better for everyone. Happy 4th of July!

Yay! I just got a $25 gift card from an offer I completed in April! It came at a time when I really could use it, too!
