help me find a pattern (or alter this one)!

i just made my first mamabird diaper and it's an inch or two too short for DS ~ it covers everything it needs to cover, but i'm pretty sure that a poop would leak out the top. i'm not sure how to go about altering the pattern (where do i add the length?) or if i should even bother (should i just get a different pattern?)...so, thoughts?

oh, and if you are going to suggest a pattern, it needs to go up to a fairly large size ~ he's 29 pounds and on the chubby side

I used the mama bird pattern also and had to adjust it twice. I ended up extending the back tabs and lengthening it about 2 inches. The final diaper I have I hope to fit my DD til she is about 35 lbs. She is now about 21. To adjust the pattern, I just layed the pattern onto another piece of tissue paper and traced the front section and then just kind of winged it from there, using a yard stick and a marker, free hand style. I made sure it was uniform on both sides by folding it down the middle and cutting it out in two layers. Does that makes sense, I hope? I add length in the crotch. That way the diaper stays narrow where it needs to be narrow, and I don't mess with the length of the ends. Good luck! You will want to make the tabs longer, too.
