Name dilemma (with cautionary moral tale)

Can you give me some insight on this one, please?
When I was pregnant with dd, we had a girl name and a boy name, and some people knew in advance what we were thinking of. Our boy name was quite popular- so popular, in fact, that my lovely adorable exhusband decided that he wanted to use it for his son's middle name.:
My boys now have one brother, known as thingummy Logan. Does this therefore, morally, ethically, for-the-sake-of-not-confusing-peoplely mean that we would be stupid to name our son Logan thingummy?
AND the cautionary moral tale is that you should never tell anyone what names you're thinking of until you know your family is done growing. ESPECIALLY not your ex.

I really don't think it should be a problem at all. It might have been weird if it was the other boy's first name. But how often does your middle name come up? You should name your baby what you want to name him.

As long at the thingummy names aren't the same I think it would be fine. I couldn't tell if by using thingummy in both names it was the same name or not. I wouldn't use the same names in reverse though.

You should deffinantly name the baby whatever you want. A lot of people have the delima that they know someone named the name they want to use but my philosophy is that there are probably no names on the planet that are not yet taken. Make your babies name whatever you want it to be.

Thanks- sarahn, the other little boy is Joshua Logan, and we were going with Logan Douglas. I think the reason I'm hesitant is that Alex's middle name was my dads, Skye's first middle name was her grandma, I'm named after my aunt, and so on. It's really just bugging me because this means my boys will have two brothers who share one of their names.
I think part of the reason I'm feeling so weird about this is that just before I conceived this time, I was talking to my aunt- who was a fantastic support when I lost the twins. Somehow, for some reason she knew that she needed to ring me and insist that I saw a doctor because there was a second twin in there- she lost one of her twins at 3 months, the second at 8 months The second was called Helen, and she did mention that- you know. It felt weird for her. Generally my family doesn't do emotions, we're terribly English about all of that, so for her to talk about it means a lot.

My vote is for using the name Logan. I personally love the name. My husband has an uncle and cousin both named Logan and if it weren't for their monopoly on it, I would love to use it if we had another boy. In your case, though, since the other boy has it as a middle name, I say use it.
