Discharge or mucus plug? (possibly TMI)

So how are we suppose to tell the difference between lots of discharge or loss of mucus plug? I know that the plug isn't always a lump and can be lost little by little but I never noticed it with DD so I'm not too sure what I'm looking for. I woke up this morning and had LOTS of tacky discharge. It was clearish looking and was mucusy. I wiped four times with the discharge. (See TMI) A little bit ago I went to the bathroom again and found more of this discharge. Had to wipe it away twice this time. Is this bits of the mucus plug or just some weird discharge? There was tons of it.

Sounds like a mucus plug to me- but I never noticed mine with my dd either, and have been watching for it.

Sounds right to me also... I have lost mine(pretty sure) and it was thick and took several wipes..

Good that's encouraging. Like I said I never noticed anything with DD. But this lots and lots was really thick mucusy discharge. I thought it was the plug but I wasn't sure. So what? That means that labor starts in 24-48 hrs right? Please tell me its closer to that than yet another week or two. At least this is a good sign that something is happening.

I have been losing my plug for days. Sometimes I see clumps in the toilet, sometimes a clump in my undies, sometimes lots when I wipe, and sometimes just a lot of un-formed mucus in my undies...it seems my mucus plug has taken all forms

Sorry to be a downer but your plug can regenerate itself. I lots parts of mine for over two weeks!
