Are Button Jointed Dolls Cuddly?

I would like to make a doll for my daughter's 2nd birthday. I've been looking at the "my baby" one at Dancing Rain Dolls and the button jointed one. Any recommendations? Thank you!

I love the quality of the products at Dancing Rain Dolls, but I think a button jointed doll is better for 3 and up, and even older. The traditional Waldorf doll or even a bunting doll would be a better choice, IMHO. The sewn in limbs are more likely to take the rough and tumble lifestyle of the toddler and remain intact. String joints come loose and don't hold up as well. How about the friendship doll in a 14" size or one of these? -

Thanks for the advice. She enjoys putting clothes on her teddy bear, so I think she'd like a doll she could dress and undress too.

ITA with E.V.Lowi~ DD has a button jointed baby doll that I made her for her 5th birthday (she is now 6). It is her absolute favorite, but I have had to reinforce the arms and legs at least three times already- and she is not a rough child, this has been normal wear and tear from "diaper changing" etc.
I think any child under 3 would be too hard on it, and a doll with sewn on limbs is your best bet.
DS (age 3) has a traditional waldorf doll which is about 13" and it is holding up much better with his rougher play.

I don't want to hijack the thread... but I just bought a button jointed doll kit for dd's 4th birthday... do you think I could just sew the limbs in place? She is very rough & tough, so it sounds like the doll wouldn't hold up at all.

beemama,
I really don't see why you couldn't sew the limbs in place. The thought had crossed my mind too, when I was thinking of making one for my neice.
