Arggg! Insomnia!

This is more of a vent than anything else...but...

With my first pregnancy, I never slept better in my whole life up until delivery day. With my second pregnancy, I was annoyed that I had to keep going to the bathroom all night, otherwise, I slept really well. But this pregnancy...forget it! I can't sleep at all! It's not fair and I still have two weeks to go! And, who's great plan was it for pregnant women to have insomnia anyway??? I mean, I won't be sleeping at all when the baby comes - couldn't I just have some rest now to prepare my body for what it is about to go through?

Whew, thanks for letting me get that off my chest! I feel much better now.

I don't have insomnia ... and even sometimes (not that often) make it through the night without a pee break - but I have a 17 month old who does have insomnia (the kid just won't sleep for any period of time ... and pee breaks wake him up).

I could still be sleeping!

Sorry you aren't getting the sleep you deserve (need is irrelevant at this point) - do you think it is a bit of anxiety? I remember seeing an article about accomplishing one thing before going to bed and it let you rest your mind each night (i.e. set a task to accomplish, a really easy one, and try and finish it before going to bed tonight).

It hasn't been a huge problem this time round...but this morning DD woke me up at a little before 4am and I COULD NOT get back to sleep. I'm dragging myself through the day today...

Personally, I'm getting way more sleep now that the baby is here! I sit back sometimes and am startled by this strange feeling - the feeling of falling asleep! It's been so long, it's wonderful.

I'm so with you! This is the third night I've been up at 3am unable to go back to sleep, and to top it off I have a really horrible cold. I can't sleep a wink, my sinuses are killing me, and my throat is dry and hurts.

All I can do I get up, make myself some soothing tea, play online until my nose stops being so stuffy and runny, and prop myself up in bed again with seven pillows.

I hope you finally get some rest!!

I don't have insomnia. I want to sleep so much and fall asleep very quickly, but my body won't let me sleep for more than 1 hour at a time (I either have to pee or I wake up with hips cramps from sleeping on my side). So I am not getting any deep sleep. I feel tired all the time, even in the morning. This has been going on for weeks.

The annoying thing is that the advice people give me most often is, "Get your sleep now!" And I think, "I wish I could!!"

I cannot imagine getting less sleep once the baby comes. In fact, I wonder if I might get more just because I may a get a few stretches where I actually get some deep sleep!

I haven't been sleeping well at all the past three nights in a row. It's a mix of contractions, stomach aches, thinking about the birth, hormones, getting up to pee... aggghhh I just want ONE good night's sleep right now. I don't want to go into labor so exhausted.

One thing that does tend to help me is taking a cal/mag supplement, but it's not working right now, either.

I said exactly this to my dh today! I think that as soon as I'm over this cold/sinus infection and once I'm not carrying the weight of the babe any longer I'll sleep more soundly!
