Can I hand embroider PUL?

I want to embellish the bum on my PUL pieces before I sew my AIO'S. Do I HAVE to find someone with a fancy schmancy machine to do it for me... or can I do it by hand? What kind of thread do I have to use if I do it by hand? Will the embellishment wreck the PUL and cause wicking through the AIO?

Sorry, I have no idea. I don't work with PUL and I don't embroider.
But I'll -bump- so that maybe someone who does will see your question.

I hand embroider, and have been wondering the same thing. I'm willing to try and report back.

You can hand embroider PUL, and yes it will wick, but it will wick with machine embroidery too.
To stop the wicking you can back it with another piece of PUL. You can carefully iron the two slick sides together. HTH! :

also, i'd use a pressing cloth when you do it

Make sure you use 100% polyester thread. That will help with less wicking and will hold up well also. I can't wait to see your pictures when your done!
