Would love information on becoming Doula or Midwife

I would love to get more information or becoming a doula or possibly a midwife. I know a little about each, and know there are different levels of midwifery, but that is about it.

What I would love to find out, is where are the best places to look/go/read about going into one of these fields?
Best place to to train or go to school?
Any other helpful info would be truly appreciated.
Thanks in advance Mamas!

The best way to find out more is to just google on the internet. Off the top of my head, here are some good sites to get you started:

dona.org
midwiferytoday.com
mana.org
narm.org

There are many yahoo groups you could join, just search for doulas or midwives. There are student midwife groups as well.

Good luck, there is no right or wrong path, everyone is different, you just need to decide what is right for you and your family.

You could try starting out with doula work, to get a feel for attending births, figure out if you can handle being on call and the uncertain hours. I have trained with both ALACE and DONA. I really loved ALACE but both were good. www.alace.org
www.dona.org

There are others, too. Those are the ones I"m familiar with.
