Have you seen Birth As We Know It?

I need a review on the twin birth. Is it midwife-attended? Waterbirth? Home birth? Scary? Calm? Noisy? Quiet? Peaceful? Harried? Complicated?

Any other natural childbirth twin birth videos you recommend?

TIA!

I have two copies of it in my lending library. Clients love it.

Some are unassisted, some are assisted by a midwife. Some are in the ocean, some in water at home. They are extremely peaceful and gentle - far more gentle and hands-off than what most people are exposed to! Her section on circumcision is good, too. I really like this DVD alot.

I like the Psalm/Zoya: Unassisted Birth of Twins DVD. Mainly because it challenges myths around birth: that birth is only safe with an attendant right there; that twins are too risky for homebirth; that a footling breech needs to be born by cesarean.

I have a couple Dutch birth videos and I really like those alot. Nearly all are upright births. I have lots of videos with waterbirths, but you don't see much but the mom bringing the baby up out of the water - it's nice, but sometimes it's good for people to know what baby looks like as it's emerging from the vagina.

Pam,

Thanks for responding! Do you remember details, specifically, about the twin birth?

ETA: I'm looking for a spontaneous, non-medical, unmedicated twin birth that isn't going to lose my target audience of more mainstream-type folk.

well, the unassisted twin birth is pretty radical - would you lose people? um, sure...because it's not what we're taught is "safe". IMHO, I think sometimes you have to go wayyyyy over to the radical side to get anyone to consider something in the middle (like show them an unassisted twin video and they may start thinking that a hombirth of twins with a midwife is plausible..)

I have Birth As We Know It. All water births, very alert babies and very intutive, confident mothers! It's really heavy on the spiritual side of birth, and I do think it turns off some of my couples. A doula friend thinks it's a really great video, if you just turn off the sound, lol! There is an option on the DVD to just watch the births without commentary.

There's also a professional version of the DVD, which is shorter and made for childbirth educators, midwives, etc. I haven't seen that, but I'm thinking it might be lighter on the "woo-woo" commentary (as another instructor I know would put it).

Psalm & Zoya is the only other twin birth video I know of.

Good point, Pam, about sometimes having to go to extremes to get couple to meet you in the middle.
