I admit to perusing celebrity gossip websites. I like to gossip, but in a safe way, you know, about people that other people know, but not friends or family... Ok, enough with 'splaining myself.

Here's Maggie Gyllenhaal breastfeeding in NYC. I was just so tickled to see the picture this morning. If more stars did this it would really normalize breastfeeding probably faster than any other way.

It's so funny to see this posted all over the AP sites. *giggles*

I've loved Maggie ever since "Secretary", and I applaud her for NIP - and such an "old" child at that. And Ramona is an absolute cutie. Love the askew socks.

I saw these on a gossip community I read on LiveJournal the other day completely with comments like, "EW! Why couldn't she cover up?!" and "Gross! People should use bottles in public!"

She's kind of an indie movie queen. She's been in Donnie Darko (with her brother Jake), Secretary, SherryBaby, etc. Her mom's a screenwriter and her dad's a director.

I'm all for nursing in public, but for me... I'm discreet. I don't want my breast out there.

What a great picture! I wish I was brave enough to let it all hang out like that. I do nurse in public, but I am more discreet. I applaud her though.

I don't know about how much breast is visible here. I mean, I'm probably 5 times her size (breast-wise), so yes, I'd cover up more. But her breasts? They're cute, and covering up seems to be more trouble than it's worth.

She was also in Stranger Than Fiction. Sherrybaby was kind of hard to watch but a really good movie.

I love Maggie Gyllenhaal so much! I love her even more knowing she nurses in public! I also heard she cloth diapers. That's so awesome.

I also wish that she'd been a bit more discreet. Not for any other reason than that this gives anti-NIPers fuel; "Her WHOLE BOOB is hanging out!" and they're right, in this case. Although, that is NOT the truth in most cases.

So, yes, I love that she's NIP, but I do wish that she didn't have her whole breast exposed.

In any case, she's cool.

Celebs have their boobs hanging out all the time... mostly on the red carpet in dresses that use less fabric then doll clothes. If they're going to have a boob hanging out... it might as well be for a good cause... what better cause is there than nursing?

Oh, I think it's wonderful too. I also am more discreet, however.......PROPS TO THOSE WHO AREN'T. I love the fact that we see a boob being used for it's original purpose. and on a celeb. I have seen more of other celebs bodies than I want to see. She's obviously not an exibitionist. This is the first "skin" I've ever seen on her.
