LAUGHING GAS at the DENTIST for YOUNG CHILDREN?

My 6 yo needs 2 baby teeth pulled. I'm nervous about him getting nitrous oxide and the lidocaine. What will it be like? How will he feel? What about afterwards? Can someone ease my mind about this? I would also like to know if anyone knows if there is any danger to this or if anyone has any bad experiences with this type of thing.

Thanks in advance,

Rhonda

My 2yo dd had really bad cavities in her front 4 teeth and had to have crowns put in. She's too little for concious sedation and had nitrous and a local. I wish that she could have had concious sedation too. It was very traumatic for both of us. The nitrous did calm her down a little bit after they gave it to her, but she had to be restrained the whole time. She and I were both crying during the procedure. It took two hours to get all four crowns done. On the car ride home she went right to sleep. I don't see doing that again without the nitrous, but I can tell you that it was not fun at all.
