Help! Removing Procion dye quick!

I had the neighbor girls over to dye some cotton blanks for themselves. They were so excited and can't wait to see the finished products... unfortunately they were overly enthusiastic in their application of the dye and the clothes are all just a muddy brown.

I've rinsed in cold with synthrapol, and am currently soaking in bleach but it doesn't seem to be removing the dye. I haven't used any hot water yet.

Help! Is there anything I can do to get the dye out and re-dye the clothes asap? Before they see them I used Dharma procion dyes on cotton. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to fully remove the dye from the clothinhg. They will be permanently stained though not technically dyed because the of the lack of soda ash. You can wash inb hot water to try and get out as much as possible and the bleach might help some too butt here will probably be residual color.

Your best bet is to make these cloths part of your next dye adventure with the kids. And make sure they are wearing dye adventure friendly clothing

This won't help you today, but there's this:

Sounds like the kids are about to get a lesson on restraint in tie-dying! Next time they'll be all the wiser.

Next time was this evening

This time I put the dye in spray bottles, which worked alot better because the dye comes out more slowly and they can take more care in applying the dye. It takes a long time to spray the dye.

Plus I had another adult this time helping me keep my two-year-old out of the dye.

Nevertheless we all ended up with dye on our hands and clothes. Oh well! Can't wait til tomorrow to see how they turned out.
