Ok, so I have posted a few times about the toys in our house being unmanageable. We have so many great toys that are scattered about, mixed in with everything else, and I just feel sick about it, and sick seeing it.
We have a split-level house with a basement that is finished. There are toys down there and it can get really messy.
The kids also have toys in their bedroom. it is all a disorganized mess.
My plan: all the toys in the basement. Books and stuffies in the bedroom. All toys sorted and put into labelled bins. I resolve to help them into new habits of putting toys away in an organized manner in the bins they belong in. Involves moving 2 pieces of furniture (minor). I am so looking forward to the organization and having their bedrooms clean and peaceful again. I am a bit worried that the basement will get trashed, but if we are keeping on top of our system it should be ok. I used to like cleaning up toys when there was a place for everything as it was very satisfying -- now I just avoid it all.
Timeframe: 1 month (I have a two month old).
Please tell me I can do this! Dp is on board, too. We are talking to the kids tonight about our plan.
Where do I start? All rooms are tidy, but not organized. I am thinking of dumping out a bunch of bins that are totally mishmash and labelling those and getting started that way in the basement. When everything in the basement is organized I am thinking of bringing down the stuff from the basement. Is that how you would do it?
