Question ... headache, blurred vision, nausea

Alright - this will sound a lot worse than it probably is, but should I phone the midwife ...

- I have been having bouts of nausea
- in the evenings, my vision in one eye goes blury (I have a big blury spot (happened last night, went to be, fine in the morning ... it has started again this evening)
- I have a mild heaadache - but I never have headaches
- my hands keep going numb
- I swear at dinner time I couldn't rea the simple Baby Einstein videos without mixing up my words(couldn't enunciate/read - very weird feeling)
- I somehow feel my hands were detached from my body - it was weird to see them move (out of body type experienc).

Really weird stuff that is completely unusual for me - I normally have xceptionally low blood pressure (90/55), no headaches, no nausea, no numbness ... no nothing - like almost 39 weeks is a non-condition for me.

Should I call he midwife or should I just go to bed - that is what I did last night and all was fine but this is weird to nights in a row. (My blurred vision isn't as bad as last night because I can still read the entire computer screen).

my hands keep going numb, too, but only when i'm asleep at night. i have clubs for feet now--no circulation down there. i have had mild headaches, but i have also been crying a lot b/c of a recent death of a close friend. tell me what your midwife says; i'm goign to talk to mine tomororw at my appt and report back. i'm 37 weeks.

I'd call.

There are innocent and simple pregnancy related reasons for each of the things you mention. But put them all together and it is certainly worth calling! Do you have a home BP monitor or cuff? DO you know if your BP is remaining normal for you? Are you running a fever or do you have any unusual swelling?

If nothing else, your midwife can put your mind at ease...and if there is a problem she'll know what to do!

not in you ddc but...

symptoms sound like a those of a migraine...i experience everything you mentioned when i get a migraine. i used to get them alot when pregnant thanks to those crazy things called hormones.

good luck.

Thanks everyone - spoke to my husband and he of course said go to bed, so I did.

This morning my hands and eye sight are fine and my head just feels a bit like it has a hang-over (of course we no alcohol). Maybe it was just a little minor migraine - I don't have any health issues normally (aren't I lucky!!!) so the little thinks make me wonder.

It is also weird - as soon as you think something is wrong, you automatically start thinking of the worse possible outcomes. I will see how we go today. I of course thought maybe I was dehydrated so drank so much water last night I went pee FOUR times in the night. So, at least that wasn't the cause!

I would call your midwife no matter how well you are feeling today. I'm sure you are aware, but those symptoms are all major signs of preecclampsia. You don't want to mess around with that! If you let it go and your body crashes, it is so hard on you and your babe.

I agree with PP that you really ought to bring up these symptoms with a care provider.

Even if it was a migraine, unless you've previously had your migraine assessed in a headache workup, there is stuff they should check and you should know. (For example, estrogen-containing birth control can be dangerous for women who get migraines.)

Also, just because we're pregnant doesn't mean other normal health problems can't pop up! Anything brain related is likely very, VERY important.
