We are going this week for more blood work. Her jaundice is better, her skin is almost pink now, but her eyes are still tinted yellow. They want to make sure her kidneys are functioning properly. She is also very slow at gaining weight. She is very long, but dainty. I'm not sure if my supply is enough even though I'm drinking mothers tea and rr leaf tea. She seems to drink well for the first bit and then do a lot of sucking. I squeezed my nipples and nothing really came out. I haven't given her formula yet, but I'm getting very close...I want her to fill out. I'm trying to give breasting all I have, I'm trying so hard to hang in there.

You might want to try to nurse her more often - try to offer it before it goes 3 hours. My son was mildly jaundiced and the nurse explained that it makes them sleepy, so they don't nurse as much, so they don't get the bilirubin out, so the jaundice gets worse, so they get more sleepy.... and so on.

I think if you're serious about bf you should change peds! If you don't mind me saying, he's giving you pretty bad advice there. You should definitely NOT stop bf. No matter what the circumstances, your milk is always better for your baby than any man-made formula. And esp. with jaundice breast milk will help clear your baby's system of the bilirubin.

Also as a pp said, take your baby outside for at least a few minutes every day (or sit her by a sunny window). The sunlight should help clear up the jaundice.
