That's so weird, I could have sworn it wasn't ranked that high last time I checked. Maybe it changed? Yeah ours didn't last that long. I do like it though. I'm getting uv natural in the co-op, but if I had to buy again at teh store I'd get badger for sure. California baby drives me nuts.

Why didn't you like the California Baby? I think the ewg website just published a new report on sunscreens but I can't get my computer to access the list right now.

The new report includes the sunscreen's effectiveness, and how it lasts in the sun (many break down within a matter of minutes).
My doctor recommended Badger, as that is what he uses on his 3 girls. As far as I am concerned, the expense is worth it for the safest, most effective sunblock out there. Knowing my son is protected when he's outside playing makes it worth every penny

Yeah, except I'd never let my kids play outside because I would be afraid of using up that $12 sunscreen!

I just read yesterday that Trader Joe's has 4 oz. of sunscreen for $3.99. I'll definitely be checking into that.

I've had trouble with all my mineral susncreens actually, b/c we've all gotten color while using them. I'm hoping it's just b/c it's harder to rub in, and maybe I don't put enough on. I know I don't put it on automatically each morning like I used to b/c they're thicker. I"m hoping I like uv natural better.

I wanted to share my experience too. I ordered 7 items and 4 of them came with in a week. I emailed to see where my other items were and was told that they were on backorder with no ETA from the manufacturer (these are cali baby products). There was no indication on the website when I ordered, in my confrimation email, or on my packing slip about them being on back order or where my missing items were. I emailed again this week to see if they had an ETA on when the products would be in and they said it is supposed to be this week. Well, today is Friday and I haven't had a charge to my card nor have I heard from LV.

So, the prices are great, and I may order from them again if I don't need an item immediatly. They did respond with in 24 hours to my emails. But, I still don't have my product which was ordered on May 28th, or any indication on when it may (or may not) arrive.

UPDATE: Of course, after I wrote this all out, when I went to run errands today the package was at my door.

What about the Zinc Oxide that's in the Badger and in UV Natural as well?

I've read that stuff causes free radical damage.

We try not to use sun screen by wearing hats, etc. but there are times we use it. So we're looking for the safest sunscreen.

I'd love to be able to use it, but they lost me with the shea butter and the lavender. Shea may well be an allergen, and I can't stand the smell of lavendar.

I recommend testing it on a small patch of skin before slathering it all over a small child.

Natural and safe are not synonyms.

I love the Badger sunscreen. I'll be getting a tube of it within the next couple days for our beach trip in a week. The price seems to have gone up considerably...I first bought it in August of 2006, for $6. Today in Whole Foods, it was $13.99.

I love all the Badger products we've tried! I'm very happy with them. The illustrations on the packaging are adorable, too.

Do a search on it. There are reports out there that it's not safe and there are reports that it IS safe.

I'm finding that this is the norm. If you want something to be safe/healthy you can find evidence to support it. If you want something to be unsafe/unhealthy you can find evidence to support it. I go more on the evidence (looking at both sides) and then my gut feeling on it. If it makes me uneasy to use/eat, I don't use/eat it. If I don't feel uneasy to use/eat it, then I use/eat it.

wow I will have to look into it..I use California Baby Sunscreen and UV Naturals now..I have super sensitive skin..I burn with in minutes..

I have a tube of the Badger 30. It works really well, but I find it to be quite whitening on the skin. Luckily my daughter doesn't care (she's not quite 5 years old). The Badger 15 didn't make my skin too white, but I prefer the 30.

I mainly use UV Naturals because it doesn't have a whitening effect at all.
