tips on making your car last forever... - Page 2

I'd have to third the Honda suggestion. Most honda owners (and I'll have to see if this is a stat online) when they want/need a new car trade their honda in for a new/another honda. Hondas rock. My first dbs 1's first word was Honda

Or a Toyota. Toyota's are good too.

Just a tip on good/bad oil: It's all the same. So buy the least expensive and you'll be just as well off as if you sed the supposed "good" oil.

Not true....DH can tell within a minute of getting into the engine if they used Quaker State. Sludge city.

We always use synthetics. better for the car, and less frequent oil changes. Also their "high milleage" formulas are better than regular oil high milleage formulations.

But he has a 1982 Toyota Celica, w/ 390K miles on it...and it's probably the best car we own.

Steph- not true cause your Dh says so I think I'll stick with the knowledge of someone with a bit more experience. Plus we have always bought inexpensive oil for our cars (my dad included) and have always had positive experiences.

My dad is an expert at "feeling" a car.

I keep saying nice things to our windstar, it has 128000+ on it now. We are having ac troubles though. And the passenger window doesnt work, so no ac is not an option in FL.

I really do not want/can't have another car payment anytime soon

How is that any different than when you say "It is true because my dad says so and he's experienced." ?

I think we're just gonna hafta agree to disagree about the oil thing

It's different because of his 50 years of experience with all makes and models of cars.

I agree, we'll have to agree to disagree.

After all, we are talking dads and DH's both of us are going to defend our men

EVERY time I see this thread I think it says, "Tips on making your CAT last forever." and I wonder why someone would want to do that....
