Hello! I recently went and toured a Montessori school that I would really like to send my son to.
It is a bilingual program (Spanish 80%, English 20% in the class I would enroll him in) and we are raising him bilingual so I am very excited about this possibility.
He wouldn't be attending until Fall 2008, so we have lots of time, so I am interested in learning more about Montessori philosophy etc.

It is a half day program, and I work six hours/day. Anyone have experience with balancing day care and Montessori school? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can arrange my work hours around his school hours as much as possible.

Thank you and I look forward to learning more about Montessori.

Hi there! I'm a Montessori newb too, but this board has been great for answering my questions and giving me more information. A bilingual program would be so exciting for me! Congratulations on finding a super place for your son.

Newb here, too. DD has only been enrolled since January, but I'm loving it! DD's school offers Spanish starting when she moves into the Pre-Primary group.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I'm also a working mother. I think the easiest thing for me was knowing how much DD was enjoying her day away from me that helped with the transition. Unfortunately I work long hours, so DD is there from 7am to 5pm.

Have you spoken to the school regarding home environment? Some school are stricter than others. DD's isn't strict, although they encourage having areas set up at home.

Same here. DD will be starting the Montessori toddler program in August, and the school is only about 5 minutes from my office. I'll be close enough to run down there on my lunch break and nurse her, which was really important for me. My DD will be there from about 0730-5.
