What size bed???? - Page 2

Duly noted that King sized box springs are easier to move since they come in two pieces. We had to take the cornice off our old beautiful stairwell in order to get our Queen springs upstairs.

But DH and I (and Dakota the cat) love our Queen. When we get King beds in hotels, etc, we HATE them because we seem to lose each other in the middle of the night. We like to sleep cuddled or close to each other.

I am a roaming sleeper and if given extra room in the bed, I am very capable of ending up sideways on the bed! :

My next bed, I am going for the Woolbed. Queen size!

Good luck with your decision and go with feels right to you! Especially since you are footing half the bill!

We cosleep and just upgraded to a king -- oooooh it's like heaven. I lloved my queen -- it was sooo comfy -- but the extra room is such a blessing. I am not squished in one tiny corner of the bed now! And there is room for me, DH, DS, and little new DD nursling all at the same time, I have no worries about nursling's safety (we also have a sidecar cosleeper). Veeery nice. We were wise to move up.

It is a LOT of bed, though. Beats the heck out of a futon. I was so glad to see our futon go. Even if it did just go to the basement.

We had a king size water bed before I got pregnant with my first son, but then we had to stop using it when I couldn't get out of it anymore. Now we have a queen, but I wish we still had the king. If we had the king still, I could get further from my husband's snoring, and the kiddos could climb in bed with us and not have to worry about someone falling off the edge.

I say go king. I have never, ever heard anyone say "gee I wish we had a smaller bed." This especially goes for cosleepers. Sure, you won't have the older one in with the baby, but I'd bet good money at some point they'll both be crowding in with you, if only occasionally. There will be mornings when #1 comes in to snuggle when she wakes up early like kids do if nothing else (and brings the dog, the cat, her gerbil...) Both mattress and bedding have a fairly minimal price difference (the big break is between queen and full), so if you can afford it, go big.

I can't imagine cosleeping, especially with 2, without a king sized bed.

In our old flat DH and I had a double (full). It was hell. We're both big people and neither of us slept properly. When we moved one of our requirements was a bedroom big enough for a 6' bed (not common here). It's heaven. Without it, we could never have DD in with us, ever.

Don't forget, the kids only get bigger and sprawlier...

King....and that is soo true what the other poster said. I have never heard anyone say I wish I had a smaller bed!!!

I love my king bed and could never go back........

Definitely King!

I wouldn't think of it in terms of money. You usually only buy a mattress every 10 years or so, so the price difference is very little over time.

We bought a new queen the year before we had DD and I really regret not getting the king! At the time I hadn't considered that I might be cosleeping, but now sleeping with a 21 month old, DH ends up on the futon in another room more often than not.

Even before DD, we both slept better in kings when we travelled. We like sprawling space though and I am a light sleeper (and DH snores! ).

Happy shopping and congrats on the new place

we bought a king because it was a year end clearance and cheaper than the queen. before that we had a queen but we moved to maui and left it behind.

it is awesome! the queen felt so crowded co-sleeping with our ds and there is plenty of room in the king. i think even with another baby there will be plenty of room. ds likes to sleep horizontally across the bed, feet on me head on dad, and we still have enough room.

in fact, we loved our king so much that when we moved back to the mainland we brought it with us.
