RANT - bureaucracy

Grrrrrr, I keep getting bills for my dating U/S at 10wks although I gave them the insurance info 4x already. I just called again and they still couldn't find it in the system. Ticks me off. It's more than $1200 for it and I'm sure as heck not gonna pay for that amount! Irks me even more that I didn't really need the U/S, don't know why I went ahead and had it. I wasn't sure how far along I could be and they wanted to do it. Thank God I switched providers now, the new office is very uncomplicated and professional.
Just had to rant now...Feelin' better already.

Ugh, medical bills. Sorry you're having such a problem.

Lucky for me, my doc does his own ultrasounds. One less company to worry about.

Just keep trying to get it covered. Don't let it go. And I really can't believe that they are charging you that much! My u/s at 20 wks with dd2 only cost a little over $400 and I was never able to get it covered, but I didn't push the issue as much as I should have. I didn't find out that they denied it until right after dd was born and I was in grad school full time with a newborn and a toddler. Anyway, push the issue while you have some time before baby comes.

Yes, I'm telling you, New England sucks. EVERYTHING is overpriced here and I'm getting darn sick of it!
I have a $2000 spend down account w my insurance and then a $3400 deductible during which I still get discounted prices as long as the Drs office submits. So I know I'm pretty much gonna be paying the biggest chunk of my prenatal care + delivery but they still need to submit so I get a discount. It's just that I really don't get how some people don't give a rat's arse about their job and let information get "lost" 4 times. And probably get paid a good amount for it. Ts! I hate the system!

I hear ya! I am in Northern California and it's all over-priced here. Last time I took my son to the Emergency Room on a Holiday weekend I couldn't get in to see the doc...

It was $100 deductable to walk in, and AFTER insurance, they charged me $999 to look in his ears and tell me his ear drums burst and hand me prescriptions and first dose of meds. CHA-ching!!!!

If insurance won't cover our homebirth, we're not concerned. By the time the hospital and OB would be done with us, we'd have to pay more than the $3500 we're paying the midwives.
