Remember me??

I feel like Ive been MIA for weeks!!

Here's what I've been up to since Memorial day!!

-DS turned 4 and we had a big party for him!
-Sitter search for 2 days in the summer so I can work a bit more to support my diaper addiction :
-Stepping up the search since his teachers went on strike with 5 days remaining...its been 3 school days now and no sign of returning. SO hard to explain it to a preschooler who knows its a school day but knows something is wrong.
-met with my mw a few times (wow...guess I have been gone!)

As far as baby news...we had an u/s yesterday (no peeking for us!! I need and love the surprise!!) All looks good so far, except I've been complaining of very slight movements only on the sides and suspected an anterior placenta...and I was right. Its smack in the middle. UGH. I was feeling movement with DS by 13 or 14 weeks, and this is sooo different. Im kind of sad and nervous as well bc I dont know if things are ok in there.

My thyroid levels are def off, I've become hyperthyroid, and unsure if I'll need meds yet. I had most of my thryroid removed about 15 years ago, and I've been meds free since then. I had them test me as I have become somewhat symptomatic - sweating (I've never sweat before in my life!), heart racing and palps, tired, but cant sleep. Being retested and will know more later!

SO...thats where I've been!! I feel like a loser bc I never finished my questions when it was my week!! It was such a busy week...but, if anyone is dying to know the answers, I will certainly post them!

Hey there! Good to hear that everything is well with you Man sounds like you have been really busy.

Yeah, pregnancy sure can mess with thyroid levels, I am hypo and with each pregnancy have needed medication adjustments. I am finally feeling a bit better, but I totally get you (from the opposite end of the spectrum I guess).

Somewhat, I only threw up once this week!! I've def got stomach issues, horrid reflux now. Zantac seems to be taking care of it...I only wish I had done it sooner!

Hi, Mama!

Welcome back!!

monocyte,
I have an anterior placenta too and was getting worried b/c the movement/lack of was starting to make me nervous too. So differrent from my last pregnancy. It seemed like ds was a lot more active. Of course, I could see tons of movement on the US (with this baby) but couldn't feel most of it. It made me feel better to know that there was a reason I wasn't feeling as much action as I had my last pregnancy at the same time (19.5 weeks). I do feel pretty frequent small movements and taps just nothing major yet. Is this pretty much what you're feeling?

Gina, as far as I know there are no problems with an anterior placenta, it just means you can't feel the baby move as much/as well as you could if the placenta was somewhere else, which of course can be a little nerve-wracking. Anybody know if an anterior placenta can cause problems?

I'm glad that your feeling better and/or figuring out what's going on.
And that the u/s was good!
Welcome back!

My mw said (in my case) that the ant placenta is nothing but a pain for both of us...it can and IS decreasing feeling of movements on my end, and makes it a bit harder for to feel position of the baby (often depending on how much fluff you have and how skilled your practitioner is) - I dont have much at all, so as time goes on, I am certain that she will be able to tell what position we are in.

It can be a problem depending on how low it is, but mine is fairly high, and will most likely travel higher as time goes on.

Def more unsettling, and thankfully my MW sensed my anxiety about it, and really reassured me that anytime I need a quick doppler (fetoscope not cutting it) I can come in anytime...I've had a couple mc's and am still in somewhat of a denial stage that I AM PREGNANT and things are OK. I would be so much better off mentally if I was feeling something, KWIM?

Isaac'sMa - right now I feel occasional movements laying in bed or on the couch, sometimes just a pressure in the middle, but most of my movements have been a poke on the side - but SO different that DS...to the point where I almost want to drink something bubbly 10x a day to force a movement. I can feel more on the outside with a hand than I can on the inside, does that make sense? And what I feel is more of a shifting of position.

I have been wondering where you escaped to! So glad all is well!

I also have an anterior placenta(s), so I'm not feeling nearly as much movement as I should be.

The midwives heard my placenta on the right side of my front area. Does that make sense? So it's not smack dab in the middle. And of course, that's why I feel movement only low and on my left. I was curious about problems when I had originally read the posts - seemed to point out a problem, but now I see what you mean.

I also wondered about the placenta moving. I know it generally moves up, so I am okay with that - as long as it doesn't move down. I have never had previa and don't want to start now with my first homebirth.

so glad you are doing okay!

I'm in the same boat over here, mama. See my siggie...I know *exactly* what you mean. At the beginning of this pg, I just *knew* this was going to stick, I don't know how, but that was my feeling and so far, so good. But I would feel better if there was more movement. I saw a lot on the US, but couldn't really feel it...

Ha! Yes! This is the only place I'd admit it, but I have had the occasional Coke just to "stir things up" a bit in there. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to make a ton of difference in what I feel and I'm probably just getting the baby all spastic on caffeine in there. I also feel the shifting position sensation a lot more than most other movements, like a sustained pressure almost. I am hoping the placenta keeps moving up so I'll be able to feel more as time goes on. We should feel more anyway as baby gets bigger and stronger! Sometimes it's so hard to trust that things will be okay, but I think they will.
