food safe paint for wooden high chair

I am not very crafty so I have no idea how to go about this.
I have a wooden high chair, the kind they have in restraunts, and it is kind of dingy. I have scrubbed it throughly but it just doesn't seem clean. I wanted to paint it so it matches my dining room but wanted to make sure to use a paint that is safe for kiddos if he is to chew on it or eat food that has fallen on it. I also want to be able to wipe it off fairly easy.

I would think latex or acrylic would be a okay. You could ask at the paint desk to be sure.

Milk paint would work too. It's super safe.

what is milk paint? where do you get it. if there is a dairy allergy would there be a concern?

I don't think I would use any recipe with builders lime (highly caustic) but I would use the recipe on this link. Just be sure that your pigment choice is safe.

As for dairy allergy, it depends. I don't think touching the painted surface would hurt and I don't think much would come off if it was licked or chewed. However, I don't think the milk proteins just go away. If there is a severe allergy it could still be a problem.
