I have a 2000 Toyota and have done it. I believe at the time my kids were both in convertible carseats and my friend had her baby in the middle in a infant carseat. I think she had it strapped in w/o the base though. Now that my kids are older and can go in slimmer styles, if I needed to do it with a base it proabaly would work.

3 car seats in Saturn LS

I have a 2000 Saturn LS and it fits three (albeit tight) car seats in the back.
They are a graco booster, evenflo express & cosco touriva. The touriva is the narrowest base I could find. I have mixed and matched the kids/their seats & their locations. Sometimes, we have to slide the booster out, buckle it and then scoot it back into place.
