Nutrition and Cavities

Hello everyone!

I've been reading a little bit on this site about nutrition and cavities and I have some questions.

Both of my children have had a lot of cavities. My 5 year old daughter has had 6 or 8 of them (I've lost track) and I've had fillings put in. I think we eat pretty well. No juice, sweets only on the weekends, whole grain and lots of fruits and vegetables (well, fruits anyway, my kids don't like many veggies). So, if our nutrition is basically pretty good, why are they getting cavities? Could there be something wrong and we aren't absorbing nutrients?

I don't really understand what Cod liver oil and the butter oil do to help teeth. Recently my father went to the doctor for his muscle spasms. The doctor suggested he take CLO. Can anyone explain how they help teeth?

Thanks for all your help.

You can have a healthy diet and still be missing key vitamins and minerals.

Read the thread 'Curing Cavities with Nutrition'

CLO has both A and D and those vitamins are absolutely essential for absorbing your minerals. All the calcium and other minerals in the world do not work in the body unless you take in enough fat soluble vitamins. So in that way CLO would both effect muscle spasms (chiefly a magnesium and potassium issue I think) and tooth and bone health.

Butter oil has vitamin K2, a mineral activator, see my last post in that thread for updated info.

Thanks

Jane,

Thanks so much for replying- I understand a little bit more about how CLO helps teeth. Is there any worry about any bad things in cod liver oil? Some of the posts mentioned that certain brands screen out some of the metals- isn't the liver where a lot of things end up?

Would it do as well to take a pill that has Vitamin A and D, or is it just better to get it in its natural form.

Thank you so much. Collette
