Are you finding out the gender of your baby?

I was just curious as to what percentage of us needed to know and how many of us are holding out. Feel free to discuss your choice below...

PS ~ We are not finding out. We are having a home birth, and I am not receiving an ultrasound. Erego, no gender knowledge. I let it be a surprise the first time around, anyway, and that was fun. I have to admit that i would love to buy some pink clothes though!

I'm undecided so I didn't vote. We've done it both ways. Honestly I think I like knowing better and would prefer to find out. I see the appeal both ways though (darn Libra, alway seeing both sides). DH prefers not knowing, but leaves the decision up to me. So I'm having a hard time deciding! Do I do what I want, or honor his wishes? How can you weigh who feels more strongly about it? There's not really a compromise, one person gets their way and the other doesn't...

I think I will walk into the (as yet unscheduled) u/s still undecided!!!

I am still undecided too, so I didn't vote. DH doesn't really want to know. I do (I think) but I am getting so much crap from people who are saying "No, don't find out, it is better if you wait". If we do decide to find out, I refuse to tell anyone else the gender because they don't seem to want to know.

We're finding out. Its hard enough for me to pick a name when I know the gender-I can't imagine double the work!

not voting We will not ask at the ultrasound, but I'm sure as heck going to be looking intently at my baby I'm dying to know and I'd love a surprise, so don't even listen to me!!

We're having a HB and we both want to be surprised for our last birth. I do have girl lust and would love a girl, but I just honestly want HEALTHY. We are 99.9% sure we're not having the u/s, so no chance of finding out! I just wish I didn't know that a lot of babies' heartbeats can help determine the sex. Makes me batty!

Ah, heartbeats don't tell you much at all, so try not to think about that! My SILs each have four children and said that the heartbeats were all over the board. My one SIL said that all of her children were in the high 150s and low 160s and she has three boys and a girl!

We aren't finding out...we didn't find out with DD and it was so much fun...I had 20 weeks to look forward to the u/s to see my baby for the first time. Then I had 20 weeks to look forward to finding out if I was having a boy or girl and all the other things!

Me too!!! That is so me and my dh. The first time, I was totally okay with not finding out, though I definitely could have gone either way. The second time, I really wanted to find out, but dh trumped and we did not. This time, gosh darn it, I WANT TO KNOW!!! I NEED to know if this baby is a boy. I just need to know. I feel so strongly that I'm carrying a boy and I just need to know if I'm right. And I also want to start buying boy stuff since we don't have any if I am right. But dh doesn't want to find out. But, like you said, he's leaving the decision up to me. I have no idea. I go back and forth. One day saying I'm not finding out, the next, saying I definitely want to find out. Although you guys are really the only people I say that too. IRL, I've told everyone I'm not finding out. So, if I do find out, it's up to me if I tell people or not.

I think I wrote it already in another thread, but we're finding out and not telling anybody. Last baby we told everyone we didn't find out when we actually did, just so they wouldn't ask questions. Unfortunately, we told them after the baby was born that we did this and now they're all upourbutt. Ug.

I voted no bc that's what I'm telling people. DH and I are going to keep it to ourselves. That's our compromise--I don't want to know and he does. So at least I don't have to talk about it with strangers at the grocery store bc "I don't know." That may not make any sense, but it's how I feel....

I think I know anyway, so the u/s probably isn't going to change anything for me. But secretly, I want the doctor not to be able to tell!

We're not finding out. I like the suspense ... plus, I'm curious to see if DH will get it right this time when he announces it after the birth.

Also, most of the hospitals that do u/s here won't tell you, and I told them we didn't care where we had a u/s, just get us the first appt. That took 7 weeks and we ended up at a no tell hospital and I didn't try looking too hard (not sure if I could tell, but I didn't want to try).

When I was pg with DS, we were so sick of all the questions about finding out, that we finally started to joke that we were going to hire someone else to change and bathe the baby, so that we wouldn't have to find out until the child was older and started to develop more defined gender traits. Yes, we're dorks, I know.

I love the suprise of not knowing. Plus DH has his heart set on a boy and I don't want him to feel disappointed throughout the pregnancy. If I give birth and it is another girl he will be so happy to see his baby that maybe he won't be disappointed.

we will be finding out. After baby #6 I got rid of EVERYTHING. We were not having any more kids (we thought! )

so I have to buy for baby and I don't like gender neutral!

I have never heard of this. What in the world?! Why would the hospital refuse to tell you if you want to know? Are they concerned about being wrong or something? Did some crazy people sue or something?

I really want to know so that we can get everything ready. If we end up with a girl (we already have a boy) then next time I want to be surprised.
