Curling irons

Is there a version that once it is turned off and/or unplugged instantly cools off?

DD wanted to play in the tub today so while she was in there I straightened my hair using my curling iron. I finished about 5 minutes before she got out. It was off and unplugged. I got her out of the tub and as we walked out of the bathroom she had somehow grabbed hold of the barrel. : It was still hot enough that the water on her hand sizzeled. :

I thought I had moved it far enough out of her reach but I underestimated her reach. Is there a safer brand out there? Maybe something thats cool to the touch even though it's on and heated?

Hope her hand is Ok!:
I don't know of any that cool off quickly. The metal has to have time to cool down. But, what might help is a thermal sleeve. I've seen them at drug stores and places like Dollar General. A hot curling iron can be put directly into them and they remain cool to the touch. Another option is to take a cold wet rag and wrap it around the barrel to cool it off quicker.HTH

What about the brush types? If someone grabbed it, they'd just get the warm bristles instead of the hot barrel underneath.

I like the idea of the sleeve! I'll have to look into that...I heard that using a wet rag could damage and compromise the unit overall so I've been hesitant to do that. Although it was a thought as I unplugged it but not because I thought she'd get it. Her hand will have a burn...right on the pads under her fingers and part of her finger(s). She keeps kissing it better and saying ouch hot.

Do the brush kind really work? I remember the ones my grandma had and they never seemed to work. Granted most things from the early 70's rarely work these days.
