mucous plug

Do you always loose your mucous before you go into labor? With Jensen I lost a big piece of it and then two weeks later lost the rest of it and a couple of days after that labor started. But, I'm already 2 cm dilated and have no sign of it yet. Can I loose my mp as I'm going into labor, or should I keep waiting around for it to come out before I expect to see any real labor? thanks

It's possible for it to come out during labor or several weeks before.

Yeah, as above--'losing the mucous plug' is one of the *possible* visible signs of impending (or active) labor. Some women see the plug in their underwear or on the TP, very distinctly...some never notice much if anything and then they are in active labor and have a baby anyway.

With my own births I lost the plugs at 10 cm. I had a doula client who lost pieces over a week or two before starting labor.
