Does pastured chicken cook just like grocery store chicken?

I just bought 3 chickens from where I'm getting my grass-fed beef. I want to cook one tomorrow, probably roast it. Just wondering if it takes longer/shorter... I remember reading that grass fed beef cooks different so I wasn't sure about chicken.

How do you roast your chicken? Just rub butter on skin and cook? What temp do you use?

I have no idea, but I just cooked my first pastured chicken tonight, and overcooked it. I haven't cooked chicken in 10+ yrs, though, so I'm trying to relearn- I need pointers!

I have a crock pot with a thermometer. I set it at whatever it says for a whole chicken and put the whole thing in there. It takes 4-5 hours to cook on high. its SOOOOOOO much tastier than store bought chicken. Unbelieveable difference. Yum Yum.

we roast it following the instructions in NT. and then use the thermometer to determine when it's 'done.'

we do two at once (my husband eats a lot), and it takes roughly 2 hours.

I just recently started roasting whole chickens. I set the oven to 450 or 500 degrees and let it cook for 1 hour.

I try to remember to baste it with the juices in the pan at least once.

the one I love is cooking it from frozen in the crockpot! very tender and flavorful even though all you add is sea salt
