I think that since they aren't pregnant, they really don't get the time frame. My dh kept saying he'd do stuff, would even say a certain date for it, but nothing was getting done. Finally all the contractions scared him I guess, I got a few things from him over the weekend, but at this point, I'm still waiting on him for more. And some of that was done with sighing and whining, like he didn't know about it for weeks and weeks or something.

Yeah, hun, I really feel for you for the whole minutes of your day wasted helping me. Much more stress than actually CARRYING and birthing a child :

Maybe we should be cave-man like and just grab 'em and drag them to where we need 'em? lol

Blue=Done
Green= In Process, Requires Further Action

1. Test out breast pump. Do I need to replace something? Replacing valves and membranes and adopting a wait-and-see approach
2. Assess (how the heck do you spell that?) diaper wrap situation and possibly buy more. Generally refamiliarize with the whole cloth diapering set-up. DONE! Diapering supplies either stacked in baby's room, or on their way in the mail

3. Paint nursery.
4. Make curtains for nursery.
5. Possibly slip cover glider. In process... not going terribly well.
6. Cover armchair to move to Dylan's room.
7. Potty train Dylan (!?!?!?! not sure if this is even possible in the next two months) -- in process, no idea when this will be "finished"
8. If not 7, bring old dressing table down from parents' house and outfit with changing pad - nevermind, will move changing table and can change Dylan on bed, floor, or standing..
9. Buy soothies.

10. Excavate bassinet and car seat from garage. Has car seat expired? Yes
11. Pack bag for hospital. Actually started a bag for this purpose... seemed easier than some of the other things.
12. Make arrangements for labor tub.
13. Take infant/child CPR class. -- registered for October 11
14. Set up internet access in new office.
15. Move office furniture downstairs.

16. Find someone to haul away J's desk.
17. And oh yeah, freeze some meals!
18. Buy little gifties for Dylan and wrap for weeks post-birth.
19. Finalize plans for where Dylan will go in the time period between when I absolutely need to get to the hospital and when my mum and sis arrive (hopefully this window will not exist, but I need a back-up plan anyhow).
20. All baby clothes sorted out and in dresser
21. Downstairs cleaned, sorted, organized, and ready to be converted to office and guest room.

22. Order sheets and blanket for Dylan's big boy bed, so we're ready to move him into that to free up the crib.
23. Ordered window shade for baby's room.

24. Finish quilt for Dylan's room!!!
25. Make Dylan's Halloween costume with plenty of time to spare -- SCORE! Dylan has agreed to be a fuzzy orange monster, which ROCKS because I happened to find a $10 fuzzy orange monster costume at the kids consignment store today -- which means I don't need to sew something!
26. Oh lord... be ready to leave work for maternity leave.
27. Wash all baby clothes.
28. Get Frieda to the vet for shots -- appointment made for 8/27
29. Organize photos and memorabilia (the tail end of the office reorganization project!)
30. Organize addresses/contents for baby announce/holiday cards
31. Read Active Birth
32. Clean out freezer to make room for meals
33. Buy boppy, diaper pail and car seat, if I don't receive them as gifts.
34. Update and revise family budget to allow for maternity leave, changes in health care costs, etc.-- in process... just need to come up with a way to fabricate several thousand dollars to cover third month of maternity leave, and figure out how we will afford childcare come February.
35. Convince husband that we need cell phone plan.
36. Move the rest of the furniture into nursery (new knobs on dresser, paint touch-up done, etc.)
37. Put together crib.
38. Put up window shade.
39. Paint end table for nursery.
40. Review birth plan with midwife.

41. Move armchair and glider from room to room.
42. Either find second shelf bracket, or buy two new shelf brackets, and install shelf in baby's room.
43. Lanolize woolies.
44. Alter Dylans' Halloween costume, as needed.

45. Take Dylan to ped. for 3-year check up. Appointment made for 10/31.

To Do Still:
I'd like to get some long sleeve kimono shirts and gowns.
Get back co-sleeper
Really want to do a belly cast with this babe
Really want to do birth announcements with this one too.
make back up birth plan
Buy a baby book
Buy homebirth kit and other supplies
Look into rental tubs or buy one
Make sure car seat arrangement works in our car-waiting until Oct for car seat check at local hospital
Buy mobile
Buy wipe warmer for washclothes
Buy ds a baby doll

In Progress:
Knit something for babe-did one hat,will do at least one more with booties
Get painting the house-our room is half done, kids room to be done
Start making and freezing dinners-did some, dh will do some soon too.
Narrow down list of names

Done:
Finish packing up house
Move!! and unpack at new house.
Order more diapers-had more Fb than I thought-not sure if I need to
Interview back-up doula. Our doula is going away for Thanksgiving so there is a good chance she can't be at the birth.
Go through ds old clothes and take an inventory.
I'd like to get a double stroller-will delay until next spring
Get back breast pump
Decide on whether we will take a refresher childbirth class-not going to
decide whether to have a home birth or birth center birth
Arrange care for ds if we need it and maybe the dog too

post #149 of 162
now comes the time when we look at the list and accept what is not going to get done.

I have roughtly a month -- but i just feel like it is not gonna be that long -- thus, as Sis says I will be faceing an induction at week 43

But the fact is unless a lot gets done after Nov 3 when mom gets here -- i have to give up on a lot of it.

I am so tired, and so sick and just can't keep up with daily life -- i have 2 clothes baskets full of clean clothes sitting here a week now to put away........

•hang shelves in nursery
•wash small diapers – after Oct 1
•wash 0 to 3 baby clothes – after Oct 1
•wash receiving blankets – after Oct 1
•get baby book, start
•clean breast pump parts and bottles
i have given up on the baby book -- can't find a GN one i like. we have to wait and have mom choose one for teh cvorrect gender.

i do want to get the baby announcements addressed...

I am just gonna have to get the pump cleaned so i can use it for nipple stim.

DH says to leave washing all the clothing for my mom -- it is something she likes .. sorting, washing, putting away neatly ... not sure, may have to.

Quote:
•pack for me – started
•pack for baby -- started
•pack for DH
•make at home plan / notes for doula and Scott -- STARTED
•make new birth binder -- STARTED
•make CD of praise music for labor and birthing
•make photo album of Theo to take to hospital with me -- STARTED
I have to pack

I will finishe the birth binder and home notes -- but they will likely be whatever i have now and i will be totally disspopointed in them.

If Scott will make me a couple of CD -- otherwise i won't have them.

I do have about 1/2 the photos picked out for a new brag book of Theo to take with me, and carry with me now that i don't always havew him with me. i have the brag book -- i need Scott to print them and cut them for me.

theo's photo and baby book will not be done -- but i might get a little more done if mom gets here before the baby......

i will have the gifts bought .... but that it killing me....the physical effort that is, not the fun of it. mom can wrap when she is here.

gotta get the coustome

Okay, I'm going to attempt to update my list:
1. Find a doula.DONE
2. Get a backup person to be with my kids at the birth in case mom misses it (she will only be here 2 weeks.)DONE
3. Buy a new dresser for baby's clothes or else seriously reorganize stuff to make room for baby's clothes. DONE
4. Sew a small diaper stash (finished with the newborns and have plenty of mediums, although a friend has been borrowing them for some time and I'm not sure of the status on those, if they are still any good.) In the works
5. Get out baby clothes, wash, and organize.DONE
6. If we find out gender and it is a boy, I'll need to start on the boy stash of clothing. N/A
7. Write a birth plan, it will be quite extensive since I very much know what I want and there are 3 mw's at the birth center I'm going to and I don't really know any of them yet. Yikes! DONE
8. Check on wireless internet capabilities at birth center. If they do have wireless, find a friend whose laptop I can borrow for the birth (webcam for dh.)DONE - DH bought me a laptop
9. Last month or two, I hope to get the girls sleeping primarily in their own beds for the majority of the night, every night. They have been sleeping with me quite a bit more since dh left. We'll see how that transition goes, although they were sleeping in their beds pretty well (dd1 - very well) before dh left, so we should be okay. Not happening
10. Set up cosleeper and find the sheets. Cleaning and rearranging my room today so I can do this later today.
11. Find a good swing at a garage sale, hopefully. DONE - borrowing one from a friend

ADDING TO LIST:
-Get swing and clean it.
-Start addressing envelopes for announcements
-Pack my birth bag
-Pack necessities bag for girls
-Pack fun "surprise" bags for the girls
-Check if baby clothes need to be rewashed (did this a bit too early a few months ago.)
-Set up diaper areas
-Set up baby monitor
-Buy extra batteries for bouncy seat, baby monitor, and swing

To Do Still:
I'd like to get some long sleeve kimono shirts and gowns.
Really want to do a belly cast with this babe
Really want to do birth announcements with this one too-decide on design.
Buy a baby book
Buy mobile
Buy wipe warmer for washclothes
Buy ds a baby doll
Weed/mow lawn one last time
Buy a couple nursing nightgowns
Get something to put under birth pool
Pack a bag for ds if he ends up going to grandma's for birth
Do a practice run filling birth pool

In Progress:
make back up birth plan
Knit something for babe-did one hat,started another
Get painting the house-kids room to be done
Start making and freezing dinners-did some, dh will do some soon too.
Narrow down list of names

Done:
Get back co-sleeper
Buy homebirth kit and other supplies
Look into rental tubs or buy one
Make sure car seat arrangement works in our car-waiting until Oct for car seat check at local hospital

I suck. I went back and looked at my list and although I have been really busy, I have not completed anything new on my list. Did get a bunch of OTHER stuff done though... I should post a new "to do" list to motivate me. aarghhhh.

I feel like I am getting nowhere on my list. : It's mostly come down to money for some and just sheer exhaustion or procrastinating on the rest. :::

does everyone know about the site backpackit.com? it's just an easy way to keep to do lists, plus you can "share" the pages with other people, so your partner can add/remove items if they want.

it completely rules my life since i became pregnant and suddenly that ability to rattle off huge lists of things off the top of my head completely disappeared.

anyway, here are the to do lists from my baby page (the items that i've completed, i've already deleted):

things to do before the birth
-----------------------------------------------------------
* mail registration info to hospital
* make diaper wipe solution and soak wipes

when i go into labor
-----------------------------------------------------------
* make sure phone numbers are in cell phones
* charge camera batteries
* charge cell phones
* email work
* tell PPK
* finish packing bag
* bake birthday cake

before leaving for the hospital
-----------------------------------------------------------
* leave food for cats
* call parents
* call erin and amy
* call midwives
* double-check bag to make sure i have everything

take to the hospital
-----------------------------------------------------------
* lip balm
* toothbrush/toothpaste
* camera
* phone
* battery charger
* deodorant
* change of clothes - matt
* birth partner
* blanket and pillow in the car
* clothes to wear home - matt
* music
