What are you ordering for the coming homeschooling year? - Page 2

I will be ordering the following for my three children (ages 4, 7, 9)

- more art supplies
- science equipment (microscope)
- math curriculum (not sure which one yet)
- books on science, biogographies, etc.
- perhaps a computer (new iMac with Apple homeschooler discount)
- more silks
- a wall map of the US and one of the world, perhaps a globe

Today I am getting a great crossword and search word puzzle maker program for Macs - Crossword Forge. It's on sale for 40% off at www.maczot.com. I use it to make customized crossword and word search puzzles on various themes, like Star Wars, transportation, gardening, etc.

I think it would be good for Spanish as well.

We will also be getting some new baby chicks this week.

And whatever else we need for what we decide to do...

This thread makes me feel like I should be obsessing on this more.

Oh my gosh I'm so excited! We only just decided to hs (for K at least) and I have no idea what to do, and I had never been to the rainbow resource site before, and it is so cool! There is so much stuff out there and it isn't that expensive!

Also, I feel I'm leaning strongly toward unschooling, but afraid my dd will be bored and undernourished (she is already reading - and has never been "schooled" before so I guess I shouldn't worry). Reading what others have wrote in this thread makes me understand even more that I can have lots of educational, fun, enriching type stuff available for her to CHOOSE from and don't have to have a rigid cirriculum. She is so interested in learning new things all the time!

I'll post my order after I finish, I'm so excited to get stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This year we are trying to simplify and declutter as much as possible with the new baby coming in Sept. I'm hoping to get away with only getting a few more read alouds - American historical fiction, and maybe a workbook or two.

I just remembered my children will probably finish their Math U See levels in the not too distant future so we'll get the next levels too. Wonder if I can teach my 7yo just from her sisters old books? LOL She is a quick study, she may not need too much practice.

But my Rainbow Resource catalog IS burning a hole in my desk... I love that thing.

So far I've ordered:
Math U See (Gamma)
Story of the World (book 1)
Editor In Chief (Critical Thinking Co.)
Descriptive Mysteries (Critical Thinking Co.)
Writing Strands (book 2)
and enough sciencey-history things to keep us occupied for a while.

I still need to get:
more art supplies
Math U See (Delta)
Story of the World (book 2)

We'll be finishing up the current MUS and SOTW in December/January, so I want to have the new ones on hand.
