Do I need anything else?

Thread Starter
We are moving at the last minute and we will be in temp housing for three and half weeks before all our stuff gets delivered July 14th. I am due July 26th, so we should be settled in by the time the baby comes but just in case he decides he is done cooking early I want to hand carry the essentials with us. This is what I have/or on my list to pick up as soon as we get to Denver just in case. Is there anything that we can't/shouldn't be without for those first few weeks?

Diaper covers
Infant prefolds
a few infant kissuluvs
Flannel wipes
foam u shapped changing pad

Tons of clothes (the one thing I am not worried about
6 blankets

Infant first aid kit from target
Infant grooming kit from target

Car seat

DH appreciates your help, since he will be the one running out at midnight to find that thing we didn't know we needed

I'd add burpcloths & bibs to the list.

I would also keep a tube of lanolin/Lanisoh around, and a boppy (or related) if you have one (assuming intention to breastfeed, since I didn't see bottles/etc on your list).

Breast pads if you are a leaker! And a sling!

Do you have some wipes solution, and some laundry soap?

Everyone else beat me to it - I was going to suggest a nursing pillow/boppy and some aids like Lansinoh and breast pads. And a sling would be a bonus too.

Yea! A thread I feel very prepared to talk about! You need burp cloths and more blankets! We are going through them faster than you would believe! We have also been using more covers than I thought, but I made a bunch of newborns. Breast pads and lanolin are really good to have in that stash. The boppy is only good if you use extra pillows at first, but I have already (yep, four days old) stopped using it. I have found that a big pile of pillows do the job just as good, and I loved my boppy with my son. Also, make sure that you have socks that fit. Even though we live in hot, Texas weather, we keep the house comfy. We have been dressing her up really warm, but that is partly because she was so early. It is also nice to have a bunch of pads or whatever to put baby down on. Bella started spitting milk back out as soon as it gets in her mouth so I think my let down may be pretty fast. My breast pump parts should come today so I am going to use my pump to get just a little milk out of me. That will also make sure she gets the good hind milk. Sorry...I digress.

What about your post partum needs? Big pads, breast pads, nursing bras/gowns, lanolin, even a breast pump & storage containers would be good to have around, just incase (you may have to deal with some engorgement and will be WISHING you had a pump for some relief), etc...

Lots of burp pads, waterproof pads for laying the baby on, a safe place to place baby (pack n' play, bassinet, moses basket, co-sleeper, bouncy seat or swing, etc) in case you need to take a shower, cook, etc...

Ummm... that's all I can really think of...

I live in the Denver area so if you find out you are missing something then let me know. There are quite a few moms on the local AP board. One is bound to live near enough to help you out if I can't.
