How many feeds per day at 3 months?

How many times a day do you nurse at around 3 months? Logan and I are nursing about 12-15 times a day due to my low output and tiny meals. What about later months? I'm curious how what I'm doing compares w/mamas who have a normal supply.

I think every baby is different. I didn't have supply issues with ds1, but he nursed every 1/2-1 hour until he was much older. He was just a "snacker"

ds2 is only 2 months old...he nurses every couple hours.

Elias usually eats 7 full feedings, with perhaps an additional snack if he gets the hiccups or something. He will accually gag if I try to feed him more than that.

lots and lots and lots, probably at least 12 times a day, possibly more but I don't count. Audrey is really reflux-y though, and will often projectile vomit a full feeding and need to nurse again immediately. My supply is definitely adequate, with tendedncies towards oversupply.

Wow, there's no way I could count. It's A LOT. He nurses about once an hour from 7am until 11:30pm and then once every 2-3 hours throughout the night. : I reeeaally wish he took a pacifier.

Just joking, but I do feel like I am nursing a lot at about 7 or 8 times a day. I can't imagine 12 times. That said, it is a complete JOY to do it!!! I love nursing, cuddling and kissing my little one. :2bfbabe:

I had oversupply both times I nursed at least that often at 3 months.

moderate if not low supply here and we nurse about 12-15 times a day at 10 weeks. Seems infrequent to me as he was nursing almost non-stop the first 2 months!

During the 3 month growth spurt, I think each of my babies had about one feeding a day, and that feeding lasted about 21 hours. At least it felt like that sometimes!

I would just nurse on cue and not look at the clock or attempt to count the number of feedings. In general, I found that 3mos could feed for shorter periods of time than newborns and spend more time exploring the world.

I have no idea. More than 8 and less than 20. Really - no idea beyond that. Sometimes it is a quick snack and other times a belly-full.

My little one is on a schedule and doing very well- she has been so easy, its' almost scary... especially when thinking of having another one! :-) But, she eats about every 4 hours-- 7:30am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm-- then she sleeps till 7:30am again. And she is getting enough-- she is a chunk!

She has no schedule at all. She cries and I pop a boob in her mouth. If she's not hungry, she won't take it. Otherwise she'll snack or have a whole feeding. I'm not structured with her at all... So I really can't say!

I went to work last night and the childcare asked when DS had last eaten or if he needed to be fed.... I said, "He just ate, but if he cries feed him - he can have as much as he wants!"

My little guy does not have a schedule during the day and I don't care. I know he eats often. I love BFing him...I get sad (ok- jealous maybe, I"M the only one who is suposed to satisfy him lol) anytime he has a bottle...even though it's BM.

Ok I am going to go out on a limb here and hopefully not get flamed, but I also don't want the OP to think this is a good idea. Am I the only one who sees red flags with this solution? That sounds a bit too babywise. This is a routine your daughter fell in to herself or you put her on this schedule? And if you put her on this schedule how did you accomplish it without your little one wanting milk, comfort or both, and crying as a result?: Because I just don't see how a baby would choose such a schedule and if it's what I think it is I wouldn't recommend it at all. How old is your baby?

When she was first born I had to wake her up to feed her most of the time- but yes, she fell into a schedule. So I just started waking her up when I wanted her schedule to be- every day at 6am, that way I knew when the feedings would be and they would be the same every day. It didn't always work- sometimes she would wake up at 5am, so I worked w/ that. Now she goes every 4 hours and I still have to wake her up half the time.
I will say though that she has been an easy baby. She is 3 months old now- born April 1.
I did use Babywise w/ my older kids-- not a strict schedule, and I wasn't rigid, "cruel", etc. Naomi is definitely more predictable than they were schedule-wise.
I think you can schedule babies w/o CIO- if you get them in a pattern. THey need alot of sleep and I think schedules let them have the amount of sleep they need.
As far as comfort- I give her plenty, someone is always talking to her, holding her, snuggling, etc. and she nurses for a good 30 minutes if not longer. I make it more of a point, because she is so good/easy I don't want her to be forgotten about.

at two months my babe feeds at least every hour and a half during the day with our longest stretch at night (about 3 1/2 hours)...but he's at the breast a lot just for comfort letting the milk run all over us. most of the mom's in my birth group use a pacifier even though they are breastfeeding...their babies seem to have fallen into more of a 'feeding' schedule, since the breast is only being used for food. I will say my babe is HUGE and I have oversupply, so we are both sticky messes all day long....I've been tempted to get a pacifier, you know, just for the nighttime - but I know if I introduced it, I'd use it for more than just the night and my eldest was a pacifier baby and his giving it up was very traumatic. I find the constant nursing challenging at times...but I also love being able to soothe him no matter where we are...okay so I'm rambling...but to answer the op's question - we are nursing all day long and I don't expect it to let up until he's really able to move around a bit...

I promise I am not bragging Jorie eats about every 4 hours and she sleeps 8 hours without nursing at night. Makes me wonder if shes eating enough
