My Gums are Receeding...HELP!!!

I need some fast help!

I have a tooth that has been decaying for teh past several months. I can not afford a dentist right now. On and off again, I have been treating it with whey.

Well, the teeth are the front 2 on the bottom. AND yesterday, I noticed that my gums are receeding right at that little thingy that attatched your gums to your bottom lip (read: pain).

I had been doing pretty well with my raw milk, but was off it last week. HELP!!! Are there any natural remedies that will reverse the effects of a receeding gum????

All I can add is to be sure to brush only with SOFT toothbrushes and do so very gently. I had receding gums and they got better when I switched to soft from medium toothbrushes. I would be interested to hear if there is a nutritional aspect of receding gums.

Brush with bar soap

use plain bar soap to brush teeth or Baking soda is fine too, just make sure it is fully dissolved in water before you brush so it is not so abrasive. Brush gently though, you can damage gums by brushing too hard. Please update me on your progress.

Hope this helps,

I've been using JASON oral comfort with xylitol tooth gel. It has healed my gums completely. I had a +9 pockets on the back molars that the dentist said I may lose the teeth even though there was no decay. I started using the tooth gel and within a week or two, I started seeing a huge difference. No bleeding, less sensitivity etc. 6 months later, I went back and my gums were perfect.

I did oil pulling for three months and my receeding gums grew back - no lie. The gums became very tender after 2 days of using the oil first thing in the morning. After about 2 weeks I could see the difference. All you need is unrefined sunflower or sesame oil. Here is a link :

I tried oil pulling for a few days but couldn't go 10-20 minutes without being able to talk first thing in the morning. My 3.5 yo didn't understand why I wasn't answering his questions

Did you notice any whitening? I'd definitely find a way to try it again if it would whiten AND help with the gums.

I did not notice any whitening at all. The improvements I saw were gums growing back, fresher breath from the first time I used it, and oddly enough pain cessation in my arm. I had experienced intermittent pain throughout the day in one arm at one particular spot for over a year. Nothing in particular seemed to cause onset and I couldn't feel any abnormality in the tissue so I wasn't worried. A month or so after I began the oil rinse the pain was gone and hasn't come back (8 months ago). Some people do see improvements in infection and I wonder if that is what the pain could have been - who knows.

Anyone have an update on the progress using oil pulling now that it's a year later? I posted about my receding gums and this wasn't mentioned. Just trying to get some idea about long term results. Thanks!

I am definitely interested in hearing more about oil pulling. I just went to the dentist today and was told that there was no way to help gums re-grow once they had receded. I desperately want to save my teeth, and am so sad that I didn't take better care of them in my 20's. I now have all of my cavities filled, and just had my teeth cleaned and polished. I would love to help my gums grow back and never have a drill in my teeth again!

DH is interested in trying to help his gums.

I wonder if he would be willing to try the oil pulling.

He's lazy so 15 minutes could be asking too much. :

ETA: He has needed two root canals for a while, and since we couldn't afford antibiotics last time they flared up we used large doses of vitamin C. If the OP knows she's battling decaying teeth and infections, I suggest large doese of vitC.

Oy this is the worst!

Really interesting about the oil pulling.

My experience - I noticed the gums receeding on my top teeth a couple years ago. I just dealt with the sensitivity and pain for a while, and finally last year I had my dentist "repair" them. Basically they filled in the open spot where the gum had been receeding from the teeth.

I know that I am blessed to have good dental coverage. For those for whom this is an option, I have been beyond happy with it. I was told there wasn't much else that could be done.

I have just been reading about the Master Cleanse (Lemonade Diet). One of the things that this is supposed to help w/is teeth and gum health. I am in the preliminary stage right now preparing myself for the cleanse. I suspect I'll start it by Thursday/Friday. For now I'm eating less, more veggies, no caffeine. Stuff I should be doing anyway. Then the diet itself is a drink of fresh water, lemons, maple syrup and cayenne pepper.

I will post more when I have some experience w/whether it works or not!

So... How's the progress coming along? It's been 4 years... I hope it's coming along nicely..
