need support- a vent :)

So here is my attempt at a vent in which I could really use some support. Quick background... DS is 17 months old this week. He still nurses at night and once when he wakes up from his nap. He's an all night nurser. DH and I want to TTC this summer and ideally we would like about 4 children.

I went to the dentist today because I have noticed that my TMJ has gotten worse. TO make a long story and explanation short, I am eventually going to need surgery to have my jaw fixed. My dentist is referring me to a specialist to see what the progression is.

Here is where I need to vent and no one seems to understand where I am coming from-- i figure you ladies are the best ones that will understand. DS has never had a bottle. I am scared out of my mind that I will need surgery sooner than later. What if I have to have surgery and I have a newborn? What about DS who needs me now? Okay, so I might be getting ahead of myself, but I swear it's only the moms who want to exclusively nurse that have the problems that come up.

I guess i'm just asking for prayers and support. this post may have just been all confusing, but i'm just getting ahead of myself worrying up a storm.

I can't imagine being out of commission for a few days let alone worrying about nursing little ones. I told the dentist today, well i guess i'll have to wait about 8 years or so to have it done, and he responded that I may not be able to wait that long... ugh... prayers, support, please

You will find a way to do it if you have to have the surgery. I don't know what it would involve but my guess is that it is outpaitent and you will be able to nurse when your son needs it. I hope you can find some family or at least your DP to help you through it.

You can still nurse with the right anesthesia (short acting, such a propofol and midazolam) and the right post-op pain meds (like Lortab or Percocet, or even morphine for the first day). So then "all" we need to worry about is how to get enough nutrition into you to keep you producing well during your recovery!

You can express and let your ds drink out of a little cup whilst you are away in surgery he certainly doesn't need a bottle and as pp suggested short acting anesthetics can be used to help you too, you can explain to him what's going to happen - short, concise explanations don't go into really long stories, maybe find a book to explain to him, make sure he's with your dh so that the separation is easier, working out what you will be able to eat during your recovery so that you have an optimal milk production for him is probably more important and something to start thinking about straight away. good luck and I'm sure it'll all work out fine.
