how slowly and intermittently can amniotic fluid leak?

Yesterday morning, i had an internal exam. For the rest of the day, there was pinkish-tinged mucus, so i was wearing a pad. Last night fixing dinner, I felt this sensation of something leaking but oddly, it felt like it "traveled" up front. : like a dribble of some kind of fluid exited my body from somewhere down there, but stayed within the labia, "traveled" to the front of my body and then came out onto the pad. With the strange "exit" pattern, i couldn't feel where it was coming from! It appears to be clear. There is ALOT of mucus and now, everything is kind of just clearish to yellowish but it DOES NOT smell like pee????? The dribbling out doesn't come in conjunction with the urge to pee or anything and I've probably noticed it 3 or 4 times this morning. I've been walking or standing most of the day, no lying down. Baby's movement is the same. BH contractions ensue, but nothing that feels "serious". My first labor was FAST and my water obviously broke and was pinkish-clear. You think this is just pee that doesn't smell like pee????

First pg, my water broke in a super-obvious gush.

This time, I felt a weird sensation, and my water broke with a little splurt. I had a few splurts at home, which then kind of subsided. We went into the birth center, and it really was amniotic fluid. (When my contractions started, I would get a small splurt with each one.)

During labor, right before I had the urge to push, my water REALLY broke with a huge splash.

If at all in doubt, call your provider!

(Maybe try nipple stimulation to see if you can get a ctx and see if that makes you splurt, trickle or gush?)

You can leak amniotic fluid for weeks. Amniotic fluid is replaced about every three hours, so you are still fine if you are leaking. You can also have forewaters, which would leak some but not be the main show.

According to my midwife, most women at full term will go into labor within 24 to 48 hours after their water breaks. Mine broke just like yours this time, and I sit here laboring actually. It seemd to do the trickle thing on Wednesday morning, and I had BH feeling contrax on Thursday and now on Friday this is the real thing.

Hope all these babies come soon!
