Yeah! He's finally here!

Hi ladies. Well I FINALLY had my baby boy. Connor Levi Scott arrived at 10:36am on Tuesday, June 19, 2007. He's 6lbs 14oz and 20 in long. He's the most adorable little boy with thick wavy dark hair. Hopefully I can post pictures soon. We just got home from the hospital this morning.

Labor began at 5am with strong contractions and back pain. We got up and watched the contractions for about half an hour before going to the hospital. I was only in labor for 5hrs so it went pretty fast. Unfortunately I ended up getting a bad anterior lip because it progressed so fast and baby wasn't in a good position. Being in the hospital I couldn't do anything to try to move him into a better position. I ended up getting the epidural but at least he's here and healthy. They had to use forceps to get him out and I tore pretty bad so I'm glad I had the epidural although I hadn't wanted to get it. I'm just glad my baby is okay.

He's nursing like a champ. Constantly feeding! That's what was most important to me. I didn't get to breastfeed DD for long because of complications. I'm loving our breastfeeding relationship and the special bond it's giving me with my little man. Well I think he's starting to wake up again. Time to nurse some more!

congrats! happy babymoon and bright blessings for you and your little one!

I have a 4th degree tear...I'm healing really well thanks to some ideas from mdc mamas and my amazing care providers. Here's what people told me (hope it helps you too!):

--Get some gentle movement every day...sway your hips or move them in circles like a hoola hoop. Simple, gentle, slow belly dance type moves since this will increase blood flow to the tissues while gently stretching them to prevent binding.

--a warm or even hot sitz bath once or twice a day. If you can, boil up some comfry into a "tea" and use that in the sitz bath.

--get some aloe vera gel (as pure as possible...I found a brand at my local coop that is supposed to be drunk but it's really pure/organic) and "smear" it wherever you tore or smear it on a pad that you can wear for a while. I usually try to take a sitz bath, then gloop on the aloe and read a book for 10 minutes or so before my nightly shower since it's a bit messy! I have to say though it is really really REALLY soothing!

--take homeopathic arnica

--if the tear includes the anal sphincter, take colace 3x day and milk of magnesia every day for at least two weeks. You'll have really loose stools but this allows lots of time for the tissues to repair themselves before normal stresses are returned. It's icky, but in the long run you'll heal better.

--chinese traditional medicine recommends using heat on torn genital tissue. a hot water bottle or heating pad is perfect for providing a gentle heat which increases blood flow while relaxing the tissue/muscles.

--vitamin c and protein are crucial in tissue repair. and vit c will help with iron absrption too. so make sure you get enough!

--take it slow!

ETA- lots of water, tucks pads, peri bottle for cleansing, and kegels when you can!

heal well....
