What do I get for 6 years and 2 months of nursing 4 different kids, no breaks, spanning 3 pregnancies....one year spent nursing 2 children...

(I know what I get! Floppy boobs )

It's been about 2 1/2 years since DD nursed but, this too good to pass up.


- I also nursed on really horrid toliet at Costco
- Nursing on plane and having stranger next to me pronounce how cute DD is(her face was not visible from his angle)

- While grocery shopping DD yells "I want boobie"

- Inlaws leaving room when they after 10 minutes figured out DD was nursing.

- Nursed DD at age of 2 in Ireland in public. Oh my!

Not as exotic or acrobatic as most earlier posts, but these are some I am proud of:

Nursing throughout pregnancy (and sore pg nipples)
Nursing in labor
Tandem nursing (almost 11 months so far, older kid is almost 3)
Nursing a toddler on a crowded boat on choppy waters
Nursing one hour after a c-section
Nursing minutes after a VBAC
Nursing one or two kids on demand at night, every night, very often almost hourly, for close to 3 years now
Nursing a 14 month old 11 times on a plane trip overseas
Nursing on the beach, on top of mountains, on planes...

in a box... with a fox... (ok, I am stretching it here )

I'll take the carseat badge, the restaurant badge, the airport/airplane badge, nursing in the sling while doing any number of other activities, nursing in the face of criticism, nursing a gymnast, nursing a toddler on a playdate with formula feeders...

my personal favorite right now (and believe me, I deserve this badge...) is nursing a teething, co-sleeping two year old around the clock. While pregnant. With hyperemesis.

Even though I'm not nursing right this second I'd like the carseat badge, the blanket refusal, the lying to the nurse (as soon as I figured out what she wanted to hear! Yeah, about 15 minutes...7 on each side...uh-huh just every four hours...not) Nursing during a high school graduation (not mine) Nursing while at my bridal shower. Nursing while yard-saleing. Nursing while sleeping (maybe not a badge, but bragging rights)

I'm sure there is more...I'll have to think

Funny thread. I'd like a badge for

plugged ducts
floppy huge boobs
1/2 of my nipple bitten off (an eraser sized chunk gone)
nursing DS EVERY night to sleep for over 2 yrs and being woken up at least twice to nursing durring the night
nursing while I'm pregnant while I have a strong adversion to nursing and it is driving me up the $)%(& wall!

I would also like to give out a badge to:

My Mother who nursed me until I weaned at 3 1/2 years old when NO ONE nursed that she knew of and certainly NO ONE let a child self wean. Also her Mother died when she was 16 so I give her a big ol' fat shiny badge. She also brags about nursing and how good it is everywhere she goes.

Can I claim one more?

Continuing to nurse throughout the course of a prolonged lump diagnosis (benign) --while pregnant-- rather than playing "wait and see"

I was in the first trimester of pregnancy with DD2 when I re-discovered a small lump. They wanted take a "watchful waiting" approach and check it again in 6 months. So, technically it had less to do with nursing 1 1/2 year old DD1 than it did with making sure I'd be able to continue nursing DD2 who would be about 3 months old at the time of the follow up. If the news had been bad I would rather have to wean a toddler than a newborn.

Ultimately they simply removed the lump becuse it was close to the surface so removal wasn't that much more invasive than biopsy.

So, I'm claiming a badge for educating a number of medical professionals --including a Breast Care Specialist-- about the importance of maintaining the breastfeeding relationship and planning diagnosis accordingly.

-Nursed while carrying toddler in maya wrap sling and hiking all over national parks, including but not limited to: Craters of the Moon National Park, Crater Lake, Klamath Falls, Yellowstone, Devil's Tower, Zion, Bryce Canyon, and many more.
-Most monuments in Washington DC, and several smithsonian museums. While touring congress, the Liberty Bell, and Graceleand.
-In fact I think there should be a seperate nursing while touring Graceland Badge.
-Currently nursing 3.5 year old through pregnancy
-Tandem nursed several stuffed animals
-Soon to be tandem nursing two humans
-Various zoos accross the country.
-While showering
-On the USS Constitution, and other Boston area monuments
-While I was on the toilet

-Nursing my 2 yo at the Thomas the Train play area while another toddler asked "What's she doing?" Like 192,857,492 times to his very embarrassed mother. I finally had to answer for her.
-Nursing in the bath tub, pool, and while on the toilet.
-Nursing while in the carseat, as the rest of our caravan watched through the rear window.
-Nursing a toddler in a wrap, while simultaneously carrying an infant on my back and hiking.
-Nursing my 2yo to the horror of all my family, dh;s family, and friends.

And my most prized patch would have to be:
-Nursing while dtd. Well, we stopped, I nursed and then we resumed our regularly scheduled programming....:

Ah yes, we qualify for the nursing a truck, spider, carebear, pooh, pillow etc badge... DD even qualifies for a girl scout badge of nursing her baby, dino, puppy, carebear, bill clinton doll (don't ask..)
